VI korkor, may I ask how do you analyse real estate fund managers like ARA and GLP? What are some of the key performance metrics that you look at? Thank chiu in advance!

for ARA I see PE ratio and dividend yield, whether they have the ability to continuously grow their AUM

no need to see NAV, as they more of a service business with strong recurring income

GLP i never see, so cant really commend.... I don't like logisitic assets as its very competitive and the ROE is very low
GLP the dividend yield also doesnt attract me

SCI is down over 37% over the last 2 years due to the low oil prices which may trigger into defaults from their customers in taking delivery of their oil rigs. The recent lawsuit with marco polo brings even more fear. I do expect 2015/16 earnings to remain very weak and the recovery in earnings may only come in 2017.

I remain pessimistic on their Marine segment, however their Utilities segment should show better results next year as their mega power plants in India & China takes off.

However even with a lower estimated earnings of 35 cents, SCI trades cheaply at around 9.5 times earnings. With a 40% payout ratio of 14 cents that would give a dividend yield of 4.2% which is still decent. At one times book value, SCI is already trading at GFC and european crisis levels.
Overall this is still a risky bet and the expected recovery may take longer to come.

SINGAPORE (Nov 30): Aluminum manufacturer Midas Holdings, which last traded at 30.5 cents, satsrts Monday on a trading halt.

The company tells Singapore Exchange the halt was requested “pending release of an announcement in relation to a possible investment that constitutes a major transaction”.

Midas’ Singapore shares, which is also listed in Hong Kong and is on a halt there, are little changed overall in the last couple of months, despite some volatility through October and November.

The stock hit its lowest level on record on Nov 24.
