also trying to understand the priority scheme here, shouldn't it be given to those who are staying with their family and is getting married or got married and want to have their own home to start a family compared to those who already have a existing hdb flat under their name?

Hi. Can someone explain to me on. The application rates on First Timers, Second Timers and Overall?
So if the First Timers for Bidadari 4 room is 1.6 and Second Timers 5.4 and Overall is 1.8 what does it tell?

The application rates are on a per unit basis.

For example, there are 100 4-room units available. 95% is set aside for 1st-timers = 95 units. For these 95 units, the application rate is 1.6 - which means for every unit available, there are 1.6 applications for it. The ideal rate would of course be 1, which would result in each applicant having a unit available for them. If the rate is above 1, it will mean that some applicants won't be able to get a decent chance of securing a unit.

After the balloting is done, all applicants would be assigned a queue number (do take note balloting is a whole other process which will take in considerations of schemes). So if your queue number is one of the earlier ones (eg: 12/100), you will have to hope the 11 applicants in front of you have not chosen the unit which you have in mind. If it happens, you will still be able to choose another available unit before the 88 others behind you.

Hope that helps.

You are right. Most of the units available are meant for first timers who want their own flat, whether they are married or getting married. But a certain portion (depends on sbf/bto and #rooms) is meant for second timers who might want to resize/upgrade for whatever reason.

Hi, I'm a first timer here. I'm intending to get a SBF. Will the priority go to the second timers first?

I've checked online, able to view the remaining units available. However when I tried to submit online, was not able to do any selection of units. May I ask if SBF works the same as BTO? Q number will be issued and we will only be able to select the unit we want depending on the Q number (priority)?

Likewise, if the flat we picked is within 2km or in same town as parents' place, we are qualified for MCPS and $20k grant? Anybody able to advise if the $20k grant is regardless of income and mature/non mature town? Our combined income has already exceeded $8.5k.

Thanks in advance peeps!!

There is no grant if your combined income is more than 8.5k and u are looking at sbf, which is still considered as new flats and "discounted". 20k grant is for resale and if your combined income is <12k. Mcps gives you extra chance, that's all.

Hi,

I am keen on BSF. But I find no way to see the available left over unit and their BSF project. Could you guide me how to find them?

It is given to those without a flat under their name isn't it? Only thing is that the requirements call for the applicants' parents to have a flat nearby.

Click on the May 2017 SBF exercise and there is a button along the gray bar for Flat Details.

no. priority only goes to first timer. 95% of the slots are allocated to first timer and the remaining 5% is given to 2nd timer.

SOBF works almost the same as BTO. upon successful application, you will get a queue number and then they will issue u a selection dates then u can select.

there is no near parents grant from SOBF or BTO. Only resale flats have. what you can apply though is Additional CPF Housing Grant (AHG) and the grant is dependent on if it is a mature estate as well as your combine income

the application rates shows the percentage of ppl applied for the given allocated slots. for first timer it is 95% and 2nd timer is 5%.

so 1.6 means ppl have applied 1.6 time the given slots. for four rooms, there are 680 slots. 95% for first timer means that there are 646 units available for first timer. and with 1.6 it means that ard 1033 have applied. same for 2nd timer. but they only have 5% of the available slot. for overall it is a ratio of how many ppl have applied.

for priority scheme, it is to help ppl get flats. hence most scheme is available to first timer who doesnt own a hse yet.

there are afew types of scheme and can be seen from this link.

Guys I need help on some questions.

I have a ballot slot for feb 2017 bto, but I wanna get a place sooner so I applied for May sales of balance. (Biology clock is ticking to start a family)

I read through the forums that when you go down for selection (for feb bto), you can actually ask the HDB officer about your chances for the next bto window. There and then you can make a informed choice whether to drop anot.
However, that is if you applied for bto in the next window.

I'm aware that the results for bto is faster than sobf, so that might make sense.
But since sobf results only comes out in august, will I still be able to enquire for information?

That window has to be reasonably close. When is your Feb BTO selection date? Knowing that the May 17 SBF exercise results will be out around mid August, they could facilitate it only if your selection is around August too. Chances are they won't have a number for you before that time either.
