How do we appeal on the 2km radius? Is it after we get a number or after submitting application?

Hearsay, if u don't get selected in past BTOs, you'll have higher chances moving forward?
If you balloted for a non-mature estate as a first timer, yes. They will add one extra ballot ticket for every failure. But, do you reckon you won't get a number within 300% of flat supply in Woodlands and Yishun as a first-timer? :s13:

Hahaa actually I've balloted twice previously.. last year May for AMK, didn't get a Q number..last January for Bidadari with a out-of-range Q number. So the "extra ballot ticket" is only valid for non matured estate?

I also asked my friend who's living at the Greentops project at Aljunied. The block is a mix of 3-room and 2-room flexi flats. And... it's just awful. It's a den of single senior folk and poorer families (with crime and drug problems etc) and no place for a pleasant home for a decent family.

As most of the 3-room flats in the Geylang BTO are in similar config (i.e. full blocks of 3-room and 2-room flexi), I think the environment will be very bad. This might just turn into a slum. I think the 4-room flats at Dakota Breeze are still okay, but the prospect of staying in a 3-room there is just too scary. I will not feel safe for my child.

I wonder why the government doesn't know about this 2-room and 3-room flat problem. Why not mix it up? Why create slums? If got ethnic quota why don't have an income quota where a flat have all kinds of flats that cater to different stratas?

I think 2 rooms are still alright, the problematic ones are usually from rental units.

However, I've also seen ok people in rental blocks but truth is, the possibility of encountering an ex-crook is higher.

Those are the delivery possession dates. Keys would most likely be handed over about 1.5 years before that date.

but move-in period is close to delivery possession date? i understand that u take key first so that u can start the renovation, but 1.5yrs before u can move-in? :s8:

Walau singles/senior citizens & those that buy 3rm suddenly kena labeled as having "crime and drug problems"
So only those that buy 4rm is considered a pleasant home for a decent family?
Damm insulting sia. People work their ass off for their flats and you call it a slum.

I'd be more worried if my child lives next to you than living in this environment.

Hey guys, I was going to apply for the Geylang BTO, so I talked to a friend who's living in nearby Cassia Crescent.

Jalan Dua is pretty safe

Hey guys, I was going to apply for the Geylang BTO, so I talked to a friend who's living in nearby Cassia Crescent.

What he said shocked me. Yes the place is supposedly quite far from the chicken pen. But always have suspicious character loiter around the void deck. His neighbour's daughter also kena molested at the Guillemard Road bus stop once. This is even though the blocks are quite new.

I have been living in Jalan Dua for the past 10 years and I mean for this inside square area only (Jalan Satu and Jalan Dua), this place is pretty safe. I often walk my dog around this new BTO plot at late night. It is very quiet indeed but is peaceful. Unless, you cross to the Geylang Lorong side along Guillermard road, you won't see something out of sort. The area near Dakota MRT is safe. But yes, you need to take precaution everywhere you go. The primary crime happened in Dakota area is bicycle theft. Nothing major so far.

The units at my block in Jalan Dua are all 3 room standard (62 sq.m.). And in the car park, there are numbers of BMW, Mercedez and Mini, etc. I guess this slum is pretty awesome. :D

:s13:, you should go check out what people talk about Punggol and Jurong. The whole estate is a slum for some people. Guess those elites are the ones you need to stay away from.

Once you collect keys, of course you can move in and start reno, no need to wait for delivery possession date :) The delivery possession date is the final date HDB must hand you the house or it will face penalties.

Using a soon-to-complete project to illustrate, Skypeak @ Bukit Batok is more or less down to landscaping now and keys should be ready to collect this quarter or the next, a few months before the estimated completion date.

The delivery possession date is still over a year away, however, and that is normal for a large majority of BTO developments. Projects typically complete a year plus ahead of DPD.

if u think staying with 2 roomer and 3 roomer are insulting and the place is a slum then go buy condo or landed properties. condo and landed houses are atas places to stay at and slums, no poor people, no ex convicts, no drug taker, no crimes no whatever u think is unpleasant.

I didn't know in Singapore people who buy 2 room and 3 room are poor people? can't people just buy a house within their budget?

Is being poor a crime or sin?

don't go for this bto please. go buy condo please u atas people.

Yes, you can only accumulate extra ballot tickets from an unsuccessful non-mature project application. And HDB exercises flexibility in determining which is the queue number that would be considered an unsuccessful application. Usually it is when there are only level 2 and 3 units left to select, similar to when they had to determine whether to revoke someone's first timer status after two rejected selections.

These extra tickets may be applied towards applying for a mature project, however.

thanks bro! :) So to be more practical/conservative, if we want to plan our finances, we should look at the estimated completion date right? Cos balance of the purchase price, stamp duty and other miscellaneous costs will be paid upon collection of key
