hi guys, wanna share some insights here about woodlands. currently, both hub & i are staying with my parents here at woodlands. have been staying here for more than 15 years. tbh, i like the feel of woodlands houses. so here are my pov about the upcoming bto woodlands plot:
1. schools
as a newly wed couple, woodlands plot might not interest u as theres no FAMOUS school, but my current neighbor got 282 for her PSLE which AMAZE me considering the fact mentioned above. i guess it got to do w the kid, not really with the school. for secondary schools, theres ALOT of malaysian kids( likely same for primary as well)
2. amenties
this part i dare say among the rest of the available bto area in MAY, this has the best facilities & amenities. why do i say that? well, u can go JB pump petrol easily, or weekend shopping or even cafe hopping(cheaper than SG) its pretty near the public pool too ... if u are a person who doesnt cook, fear not, eating out is wayyyyyy cheaper and woodlands is 1 mrt station away where u can catch a late movie n not worry about cab fare. if u are a person who enjoy cooking, woodlands plot is perfect for u. fruits are dirt cheap at marsilling, if u atas a bit u can go woodlands, if u wanna test ur haggle skills, pls proceed to admiralty. 1 large basket for veg that could feed a family of 4 for 3 days cost u $1 ... hahahhaha
3. traffic/transport
if u drive, u only have 1 option and thats going to the main expressway via wdlds ave 3 which i m happy to say, traffic is smooth in peak hours compared to ave 2 & 12 .... unlikely u ll walk to mrt unless u are not a lazy person like me ... 10 min walk i also take bus ... hahahha but its pretty nice to sit buses as they are pretty clean i must say. marsilling station is approx 10 blocks away ... if u r in heels .... good luck ... hahhaha take bus la ... v fast one peak hour ... mrt to town ... ermmm peak hour ... good luck ... confirm chop stand ALL THE WAY ... but its proven standing can lose weight ya ... hahaha
4. neighbors
cant really guarantee anything ... but u would have a good balance mix of both family n newly wed couples in ur estate ... unlike other non mature estates like punggol or the new yishun ones where mostly 80-90% newly wed couples ... & u dont really know ur neighbor or they have their doors shut almost all the time ... people staying in woodlands are pretty nice ... generally i feel more human staying in woodlands than staying at punggol ... no offence to people staying there but i really dont like punggol ... windy but super dusty, coffee shop is really expensive, cant find anything thats cheap, LRT is sardine packed, traffic to expressway in peak hours is MADNESS ...
5. rental yield.
highly possible ... yield might not b as high as those area near city fringe, but stable yield is expected as many malaysians prefer less travel distance from custom after visiting their family over the weekends.
6. price.
easy on the pocket ... they are not as pricey as mature estates, probably u ll still have surplus in cpf to help u gain that 2% interest ... unless single income sorry cant help u ... pls remember k, you are not buying a home, you are leasing it from HDB, our dear minister say liao ... after 99 years finito ... ur house is worth a big fat ZERO $0/- ... of course if u have money to spare, pls go ahead with mature estates.

i m still trying to convince my hub to go for woodlands for may bto as my parents are ald staying near there ... he prefers a bto near green / yellow line ... his reason is LAME; green means go(go ahead & buy), yellow means prepare to stop(put in more consideration then buy), red means stop(dont think, dont purchase, danger zone)

btw this is just my pov la ... u can dont believe eh ... hahahha but one thing u must believe: pls do not spend too much $ on renovation, i know u peeps are excited to reno ur 1st home, but i chop stamp for sure u ll sell. and as a potential buyer, if i want to nego price, no matter how much $ u paid for reno or no matter how much i like ur reno, i would say i DONT LIKE. why ? cos i wanna nego. simple as that. some may say, dont like dont buy lor ... sure ... no problem ... but experienced home buyers will say the same thing ... couples that enters house n say wa v nice hor ... cham liao ... seller will not only tell u non nego or even very little room for nego, u probably pay for the next house seller is gonna buy ... u like ah ??
