Take note Singtel has not been fined yet by IMDA for Nov 2025 disruption.

Now Singtel has major disruptions on 16 March 2026 and "minor as per Singtel" disruptions on 16/17 March 2026.

Let's see how much Singtel will be fined.

And call something "mechanical fault" without details is not really a sincere apology...

The last Singtel mobile outage happened in November 2025, lasting more than six hours.

In October 2024, a Singtel fixed-line outage rendered hotlines for the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the police – along with those of hospitals and banks – unreachable. The telco was fined $1 million for the incident, which affected about 500,000 users for more than four hours.

Those who sign up for the Senior Plan at $6 (including GST), better check your bill.

I realised that in my Dad's latest bill, it was $6.01 (including GST) instead of $6.

you may think that I giam siap. But if Singtel advertise $6 (contract also stated $6 including GST), then the bill should be $6 instead of $6.01.

For the record, my mum's SIMBA senior plan bill is flat $5 per month, not $5.01 due to GST rounding nonsense.

So I complained to the Singtel CSO who say will try to waive $0.01 this time, but subsequent months need to ask again for the waiver, which is plain nonsense.

then for the recent outage, their compensation is mere 1GB of data for 1 month, which is also pathetic.

From Singtel

Dear customers,

You may have seen recent news coverage regarding the mobile service disruptions. We would like to share an update and apologise that we were not able to provide more clarity earlier, as our teams were working to resolve the issues.

We know how important it is to stay connected and recognise the impact these incidents may have had on our customers. We sincerely apologise.

Here’s an overview of what happened:
• On 16 March 2026, about 15% of our customers started experiencing mobile connectivity issues from about 1030am due to a mechanical fault at one of our network facilities. Though multiple redundancy measures were in place to support seamless service continuity, our situation required reconfiguration which took time to fully take effect. 4G services for affected customers were restored by around 1.30pm, and 5G services were progressively restored from about 2.45pm. Most affected customers were able to connect to 5G services within two hours. As part of the recovery process, due to device settings, some customers may have needed to restart their devices or needed additional support to reconnect to the network. Full 5G restoration was completed around 8pm on the same day.

• Separately, on 17 March 2026, approximately 2,000 customers experienced mobile connectivity issues due to a software bug from an earlier pre-planned IT system upgrade. This issue was not immediately apparent as it coincided with the earlier incident. Once identified, our teams took immediate action and connectivity was progressively restored, with full restoration completed by around 4pm on the same day.

• Following these disruptions, we carried out some network reconfigurations to further stabilise and optimise performance. During this process, there was a brief spike in network traffic at around 530pm on 18 March 2026. This was swiftly resolved within about an hour.

These events were unrelated to each other.

We are committed to learning from these events and working with our vendors to further enhance our network resilience and improve recovery times.

Following the incident on 16 March, we have been continuing to make system and network adjustments to optimise performance. These efforts are necessary to ensure services are fully stabilised. While our mobile network services remain available, a small number of customers may experience brief and intermittent inconveniences, particularly during peak hours over the next few days. We understand this may be frustrating, but we want to assure you that our teams are working around the clock to resolve this as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed if there are any further developments during this time.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements.

TLDR; No compensation

Yes. For a big organisation, it is very hard to waive for credit back 1-cent SGD. It is easier to compensate with a 1GB add-on for a month. It's 1-cent, i think should just treat it as improving their network. If one works in such organsation, you know waiving such money isn't easy.

To waive a bill, they need to create a component, $1 bill rebate, $5 bill rebate, $10 bill rebate and so on. I can guarantee there is no such component below $1, maybe there isn't any $1 rebate too.

To create a component, one need to draft the white paper, submit to approval, send it to IT to provision, then send it to the billing side to upload, and it takes time. Then, marketing, IT and Billing and Customer Service side need to know of this. Only Marketing can make the decision to waive. Even if marketing approve, then it takes time for billing to input that component.

I've been through all these, through my field of work. It's not possible for 1 cent waiver. If you say $5 wavier, maybe still have.

hmm, then the bill should just indicate $6 flat after 9% GST? rather than come out with the fanciful / detailed calculation which create this round up issue?

when you go grocery shopping, does NTUC come out with the bill and indicate a separate charge of 9% GST at the end? Say, the fish per price tag of $7 is already inclusive of GST and not $7 plus 9% GST when you go counter and pay?

it should be $6 flat rate, right.

In their billing component, there will be 2 components, one is GST module, one is $6 plan module.

So it's like:

SeniorPlan Module: $5.46
SeniorPlan GST Module: $0.54
Total: $6.00

So on your bill, it shows $5.51, so it's wrong, they are using the SIM Only 30 module. They might have missed out and forgotten to create seniorplan module.

Haha, how i know? Cos i created these modules before, and tested UAT and release to production.

Wah making me think about complaining about the 1c (I kenna too).

In fact when I started this senior plan they didn't active the malaysia roaming data.
Got charged $500 for PAYG data, only found out on the app when I was trying to find out why I had signal but no data connection in Malaysia on my 2nd visit. Complained to get it waived. Any less tech savy person wouldn't have known how to solve the issue till the bill shock.

I do not take MRT during peak hours as I commute to work daily using public Bus services (stay and work in the west side).

But my wife does take MRT frequently during morning peak hours. She is telling me no issues with the SingTel S$15.28 plan, except minor issues at Lakeside MRT occasionally (which I suspect to be related to the aging iPhone 14 512GB version she is using).

EWL: Boon Lay to Buona Vista
Circle Line: Buona Vista to Bishan
BSL: Bishan to Toa Payoh

Using this route, she manages to avoid the more difficult EWL and NSL underground MRT stations in the CBD areas.

Based on my own experiences, Circle Line is much easier than the underground MRT stations of NSL and EWL in the CBD areas.

IMHO.
Actually I am interested in what are the actual issues.
Sometimes is technology limitation - 4G and 5G does things differently and the number of users each technology can support is different.
