hey leinad

i juz bought my rams from pk computers ... they are selling $89 for PC1333MHZ rams also.

so 2 should be arnd $178 ... though i dunno will have discount if getting 2 ... but i think u better buy at IT show coz they will allow trade in there ...

I contacted Strontium and was advised by them that they would not have a presence at the IT fair.

Given the current rates, I think I might just get my Crucial RAM modules from overseas.

In any case, I've checked at Fuwell yesterday. Despite their price list indicating Crucial, they do not have any stocks of that. They have Kingston modules with Elpida chips.

is ur model the one with integrated batt? mine is the removable one ...

not sure if mine can go up to 8gb a nt ... i juz upgraded to 6gb and it is working fine

btw i wan to change my hdd to 500gb 7200 rpm ... is this advisable? where can i get the screw driver to unscrew the mounting screws?

and is it advisable to backup my current image and port over or totally re-install my macos? felt quite lazy to re-install all the softwares

Depends on which model it is, and what generation.

The screwdriver is a Torx T6. Check ifixit please. ;)

Have mentioned many times - try not to clone if performance is important to you.

Thinking of getting the new MacBook Pro and upgrade the ram and SSD drives by myself. Anything I need to take note of or can I just install any 1333 laptop rams and 2.5" SSD drives? Do you guys recommend using the same rams and SSDs Apple is using or will hardware from other manufacturers give rise to compatibility problems?

Hi Guys,

Just checking. The Black macbook can take up to how much ram unofficially?
I maxed the ram to 4Gb when I first bought it 2 years ago.

Thanks.

RAM of iMac is the easiest to change.

No need technician. Just buy the RAM n DIY.

4GB RAM is around $150. iMac can take up to 16GB.....HOOT ah

how many slots does the 27 inch imac have ? currently on 8 GB , plan to upgrade to 16 GB

roughly how much and which brand to get ?

Hi CeSaRiO,

In fact, upgrading to 8GB RAM for your 2008 MBP is still possible
However for the best result, in term of performance. Suggest you upgrade as a pair
Which is 2X of the same capacity RAM

Max is 6Gb for late 2008 MBP. Running it for months and very stable, 8GB crashes. oWC certify this for 6Gb max.
