Guys I signed up for m1 fibre and was told that someone will come my place to install the ONT next Monday. The timing is from 9am to 5pm and he said cannot arrange for time and worse, they don't even have contact to give :s27:

Anyone has comments on this? 9am to 5pm is too big a duration, anyone managed to arrange a specific timeslot with them?

Wow 9am to 5pm? Equivalent to 1 manday job! How come M1 not be professional where at least ½ a day then easy for people to apply leave!:s12:

Technology itself is not a problem. But the workmanship is very poor. So make sure you monitoring their work.

I understand some place is terminate with 2 fiber points. Mine only one. No backup. Also very disapointed with their careless work.

I am using the same trunking as SCV cable anyway. This was what the contractor suggest - to save lots of their work.

Really, do you mean you live with teh demaged SCV trunking for 6 months, and not making noise to the OpenNet ? How can they just leave it like that ? This is one of option given.

It would be a better option for people who have the SCV cable installed after their renovation, so as not to have an extra trunking benealth it.

For others who chose this option, can to share experience ?

Of course I made noise, but they are ignoring me! Always say check and get back check and get back. ARGHZ!!!! There's no one else for me to go to!!! They are the only ones doing it and they are shrinking the responsibility! I'm sick of calling them and typing emails that do not get replied! Seriously damn f*^ked up.. I'm feeling so helpless..

ONT is a device that will come together with the installation after u sign up the fiber plan. It will connect to the TP on the wall with fiber cable. and a LAN cable from the ONT will connect to the RG. RG = Residential Gateway, aka router.

yes both need power point.

digital voice over the fiber should be over the RG which ur ISP provide.

So TP is install by Opennet where ONT & RG is by the ISP? TP need to be near ONT & RG? TP do not have relastionship to our existing SCV point? Getting confused that many others are saying put TP next to SCV!!

Should I put TP near to my TV or PC location? Seem that they are located at different side in the living room.

just received a call frm starhub technical support guy..bombed his with alot of questions..

basically, the opennet box which they installed in the wall with trunking is directly connected to the ONT hence ONT need to be near TP and ONT is connected directly to the RG. Hence RG oso need to be near the ONT

which means TP --> ONT --> RG and all 3 need to within connection distance..

now comes my query to him which he said he cant guarantee and answer anything..

understanding that the bridging connection from ONT to RG is a lan cable (RJ45), i asked him if i can
1. put a homeplug connection to act as the bridging connection so that i can have lan connection to my bedroom computer

or

2. connect the homeplug connection directly into the RG and bridge to my bedroom for my gaming com

he cant answer either way..bt still was very patient and helpful in explaining the fibre connection thingy to me..

so my question here is..

anyone tried method 1 or 2 and could kindly tell me if it works?

They drop a screws at the main fiber point and just use a cable tie to tie it back. I asked the screw to be replaced for safe but they refuse. Call up their manager and complain and he come down personally to have the screw replaced and making sure the plate is secure.

So watch every step they do. If the installation is not done correctly from day 1. It may gives you lots of problem in future. They you may end up calling here and there for help.

okie thanks, i just checked the opennet website it says this month is the planned installation date but i have not received any letter yet.

so the website date is not accurate ?

its just 4 more days left , i sure do not want to fork out a single cent to install the point.

When you see your block is orange as an indication of installation, by right the letter should have already delivered to your mail box. If its still red, means delayed.

Do you means the 2 ports are terminated or there are 2 of the above Termination Box in one home :s11:
