I am moving to a new place. The previous owner rejected Opennet free installation, so I will need to call them. Does anyone know if there is a chance they will waive the charges since I am a new owner?

Thanks

Slim chance

No way. You should have raised this with the previous owner. Tell him that thanks to his stupidity, now you have to fork out over $200. Ask him to foot the bill.

Obviously since the sale is completed, you would probably bit be able to contact the previous owner, and even if you could, you would not get the $$

Opennet will not waive the charges for you. I was in a pretty much similar situation. The ISPs would normally be willing to absorb the costs, provided you sign up a 2 year fibre plan with them

i think they wont waive
previously i read somewhere that the free installation is only for 1 round. If previous owner reject, new owner hv to pay if they want installation.

when my friend bot a new resale flat, also no fibre point. i told him to negotiate with seller on deducting the cost of getting OpenNet to install fibre from the COV so that if he install the point, he dont hv to fork out the money. Only fair mah... since its the previous owner reject the free installation. Not sure if he was successful thou.

During my installation with VQ, I face the same issue with Opennet. U need to keep contacting Opennet to come and set up your Opennet TP point so that VQ will be able to install it up.

Do you have a contact or something? I called opennet hotline and was told I have to contact VQ directly and not through them. Well :s11:

Opennet forever corking up. They r supposed to activate the port after installing. Makes no sense to come & install the TP & then come another day to activate.

foreign worker probably too lazy so never activate & now they try to taichi to the RSP except RSPs cant activate the port. I encountered the same thing. Opennet came to install TP but never activate. On the day VQ was supposed to come install the ONT, Opennet called to say they have to come activate the port but they will b late.

As a result the VQ guy came first & we waited several hours for Opennet to come activate the bloody port. Useless b@stards!!

That's why now RSP like singtel will arrange opennet to activate the port and ensure that the port is up one week before they come install the ONT and activate the service.

I thought OpenNet is belong to SingTel ?Anyway I guess that the arrangement by RSPs to ensure OpenNet activate the port in advance in not new, after knowing that OpenNet is the weakest link for this fibre broadband. Unfortunately after > 2yrs of Operations, OpenNet still cannot improve and their failure to deliver every now and then has been causing great inconveniences to RSPs and consumers.

Yes, but my problem is Opennet apparently has some issues with the ports, so they are unable to come down and do the port testings. It has been 2 months since then, and they cannot even fix the issues :s11:?

Been 2+ years since they have been around, I am sure this issue must have occured before. Seriously screwed.

the website still listed my block as 'cant find in database'.

called, emailed them more than once and was told that they will reply me back within 7 days each time but till now no news.

the wiring experience i had at my sister's house was the same as you guys. they didn't activate the port thingy too. like they need come down two times just to do two different things when it can be done at one setting.

get opennet will b a good bet...to avoid future unforeseen problem

When you first install the TP, get the number of the supervisor that Opennet outsourced the installation work to. The next time you want to relocate your TP, you can get a cheap service.

Anyone living in a landed property has opennet come in to install? Where does the cabling starts typically and where does your ONT resides? Pictures would be great.

Thanks in Advance!

If I'm not mistaken opennet will only wire up to road in front of your place. But you must sign up with RSP before they will terminate inside your house.
