Hi All,

Received the Opennet letter package in which I had book the installation to be somewhere in late April. Currently I'm using M1 Home Broadband & Starhub Cable TV with free digital voice. Living Room & 3 of my bed room all have SCV point & telephone point.

My question is must I die die to install it in the Living Room since the TV is there? My house mosty likely would be using laptops (Currently 2-3 laptop being use at home with wireless router) or the most AIO PC, won't be using any desktop PC. Can I request Opennet to install extra TP in the 3 bedrooms?

When come to getting the service is only M1 & Starhub? I do not have anymore tel line from Singtel which had been using digital voice for almost 10 years ago!

Hope to get more advices from members in here.

I think no restriction on where to install TP,BUT free for the first 15m(if i don't remember wrongly), after which got to pay for the additional length.=:p
Plus if you want to install extra TP.. also got to pay.:s13:( but i am not sure if it is necessary to have extra TP in 1 house.. got to get the expert to help)

So in such situation, usually you guys will install in which location?
What consideration need to be taken into when making the decision.
Does it mean current singnet users should install the common TP neae telephone point.?:s22:

Thanks for those that have reply.:)
layare

i installed the TP in my living room.
l plan to install the ONT in the same location as the TP and lay the LAN cable
to the study room for the RG. this is where my desktop and phone socket are..

Thanks for the explanation.
So i will install in the living room..but will have to decide again to be near which pt

1) Telephone point.. near to the door entry point..which means can make use of existing trunking BUT laying of LAN cable to bedrooms will be troublesome ( long distance and need new trucking)

2) SCV point.. far from door entry point.. need opennet to lay new trucking (almost a L-shape length) but will give me less problem in laying Lan cable (separated by a wall):s11:

What a hard decision to make...:s27::s27:
Any one have such issue??=:p

Thanks

Anyone has experience getting them to lay the fiber optic into existing trunking (previously for the SCV cable)? I think mine has sufficient space for it, but does the trunking deasily demaged when opening? Will they replace if it is demaged?

Sorry what is ONT & RG? Does these 2 items require power point? If next time get Starhub or M1 Fibre Cable service can I still use digital voice free? My Master SCV & Telephone is situated in one of the bed room, meaning that there is a modem that I connect in the bedroom to SCV point.

There all other location I can plug in telephone & use digital voice. So would it be wise to install it the TP in the bedroom? I guess first 15m should be sufficient enough!

The Cat5e cable is the LAN cable ?
You mean the OpenNet guys will lay the LAN cable free from your ONT to our modem ?
yes cat5e is lan cable.
they will be lay by the RSP(m1/singtel/sh/etc..) free or not.. depend on them. singtel is free.. 1 cable to PC 1 cable to their miotv box.

ONT is a device that will come together with the installation after u sign up the fiber plan. It will connect to the TP on the wall with fiber cable. and a LAN cable from the ONT will connect to the RG. RG = Residential Gateway, aka router.

yes both need power point.

digital voice over the fiber should be over the RG which ur ISP provide.

Hmm... so in future, the telephone line got no use, if use digital voice.
Can the digital voice be directly connected to the ONT ?

If the TP & ONT is in the living room, will the reception be good if I use the laptop in the bedroom, which is divided by a wall ? What is your experience ?

yes. right now. i am singtel miovoice. the digital voice. and my house line got no use anymore.

as for wireless signal, this will depend on ur wireless router/RG..

In that case I would need 2 modem as currently 1 modem use to connect digital voice in the room. The other modem is at the living room which connect to the wireless router. Wonder if I take M1 Fibre plan can still use back the same digital voice belong to Starhub?

The open net installation installed in my living room, but my pc and mio tv in bedroom, how to connect?

after installing the fibre optic, the mio tv won't be affected right? I mean the mio TV does not have to connect to the tp...its the 2Wire modem that has to be connected to the tp. But if maintain the current plan(Tv and intenet), then we still don't need to connect the 2Wire to the tp, unless we upgrade to fibre plan. Cause we still able to use the existing cable/phone points.

Then if that is the case, we have to connect LAN cable from tp to 2Wire, meaning lay the LAN from living room to bedroom. Am i correct so far?

Unless in future Mio or Starhub or the supposed AIO box has wireless.

what exactly is it, after they install for us?

does our internet speed increase automatically? or does it just allow us to sign a better plan with our ISP?

the point is only place there.

it will then allow u to apply for fiber plan from ISP.

Guys I signed up for m1 fibre and was told that someone will come my place to install the ONT next Monday. The timing is from 9am to 5pm and he said cannot arrange for time and worse, they don't even have contact to give :s27:

Anyone has comments on this? 9am to 5pm is too big a duration, anyone managed to arrange a specific timeslot with them?

Really, do you mean you live with teh demaged SCV trunking for 6 months, and not making noise to the OpenNet ? How can they just leave it like that ? This is one of option given.

It would be a better option for people who have the SCV cable installed after their renovation, so as not to have an extra trunking benealth it.

For others who chose this option, can to share experience ?
