if the installation people insist on living room , but i want it in my room instead.

can f*** them on the spot ?

money is not an issue. i want it in my room.
You can insist on your room, but the TV spot in the living room is recommended.
Note that wiring an ethernet cable is cheaper and better options as the interface is common.
just want to check if this is normal, they did the TP inside my house but the outside cabling have not been done and now i am seeing their contractor doing all the external cabling on the road etc, is this normal? i would have thought that they would have done all the external cabling and then they will go house to house and do the TP.

Yes. Cabling done outside may lead up to another neighborhood instead, and besides, it is just a patching up to be connected even if it does.

Never heard of Starhub laying data point ( as in LAN point). Could be msitaken that you need another cable point. Better double-check.

I just got a call from a hub trooper from starhub :D machiam starwars.
Anyway he corrected the sales guy who made a mistake in the quote. Its actually $60+$30 for the first data point. They will provide the 2 faceplates (1 hall and 1 room) , the usual white exposed trunking and cat 6 cable.
If want to do for 3 rooms its $60+$30+$60+$60. $30 is transport fees.
Anybody have tried them?

Hi all, finally Opennet is coming to my area next month. But my living room is not directly near the door so the cables need to go a distance before reaching the TV point. May i know how's the trunking done? Kindda headache now...don't know if I should forgo installing it.

The cables need not come in thru the main door. A small hole can be drilled on the wall nearest to the intended TP location if the other side leads especially to the corridor. Trunking would be standard PVC rectangle kind you see mostly

Im at Buangkok. My area is damn weird. My surrounding blocks are all fibre ready..except for my block. The odd one out.

Different zone... Maybe your block ran into some issue with the initial cabling? But I understand what you mean, laying the cables can be troublesome, but no choice, just do it once and that's it. Can be even more troublesome for those who die die want cabled connection. For me, I think I am taking the easy way out, wireless, only hope that the signal strength can be strong enough for my settings.
