MOE kindergarten lah. Used to be the golden tix, but since everyone knows the trick, becomes ineffective liao
This one I don’t know what to say. Used to be people go all out get in to elite school. Now even neighbourhood school can be so oversubscribed and have to resort to going MOE kindergarten. Even if you get golden ticket get in to neighbourhood school is so big deal meh? SK green got affiliation to any good sec school?

Actually I think in this case the kindergarten should calibrate the numbers every cohort match the primary school numbers if not there’s always people falling out and never get which is insane

Sorry to hear about this TS.

I was in the property forum and pointed out that staying <1km no longer has high chance for desired Primary Schools and got shot left right centre. Seems to be the case right here

Can i ask for every phase, is SC consider first?

Short answer yes.

On paper it goes like this
1. SC <1k
2. SC between 1-2k.
3. SC > 2km

Then

3. PR <1k
4. PR between 1-2k.
6. PR > 2km

The sequence stops once the school is full. In popular schools, it can be as fast as 1.

Dont understand why people want to shoot around. Come on please have some knowledge!

1km for certain schools and areas still possible but unfortunately not for Punggol and Sengkang new schools as there are way too many kids.

In b4 child sc doesn't mean parent sc.

2A is for Moe kindy students and unfortunately almost every student aiming too lor.

Sibeh sian one. Those without kids please keep your comments to yourself. You wont know how parents feel. We just want a school next door not even branded.

All of you are aiming for these 35 primary schools?
“The Ministry of Education said on its website on July 17 that about 78.9 per cent of schools will not be conducting balloting and have enough vacancies to admit all Phase 2A registrants“

Everyone gunning for popular schools is a Kiasuparents problem..

But if an estate is having schools that's are already oversub, that is an MOE zoning problem...not enough schools, too many children, too little long term planning.

That one damn sad. Imagine you alumni but forever cannot get your kids in
I prefer removing all alumni, clan, religious affiliation.

Distance based admission is the best, although not ideal.

Those homes near to oversubscribed school, should pay relative higher property tax.

This one only partly true. Schools like acs, Mari’s Stella and many others have been requiring ballot for <1km for a long time so it is not a recent occurrence. Then you have schools like rgps which is still bao jiak even today for <1km

That's an apt summary for the long answer.

The number of Mainland Chinese "SC" in a particularly popular SAP school in Marine Parade is staggering.

In a school that should have previously been impervious to foreigners, we start to see more of them around.

In the old system where they use bingo balls for balloting, SCs will get 2 balls and therefore 2 chances instead of 1 for PRsS

That's where they started to outsmart the system by...becoming Singaporeans.
