I am using inkjet printer. I print about 2 or 3 times a month. Everytime I want to print have to clean the head and waste ink. I think the ink is drying up as i don't print everyday. Is it a good idea to switch to laser printer ? Laser toner does not "dry up" and need cleaning like inkjet right ? For laser printers like brother, I see that they have drum and toner. Does that mean I have to buy both drum and toner if the toner run out ?

Usually one drum can last approx 3 changes of High Yield Toners

Color Laser with duplex scan/print

Am looking for a color laser printer with Auto duplex scanning and printing functions. Understand that this might cost a little more as such functions tend to be limited to a few higher end models. Another reason for getting laser is because we tend to use the printer infrequently. i.e. Printer might not get used for a few months and then get used quite a bit for a couple of weeks. Previously, had a brother inkjet and am getting annoyed with the ink constantly wasted on head cleaning and print quality deteriorating.

Trying to check what is sold in Singapore, I have only found the following models which might fit the bill:
- HP Laserjet Pro M477fdw
- Samsung CLX-6260FW
- Fuji Xerox CM315z

Question I have is if there are cheaper models that fit the requirements above, and if not, which of the 3 above would be a better buy?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone has feedback on Canon Lasers?

Canon MF244DW seems good at $279.

Hi, can anyone recommend a durable laser printer?

Usage will be more on lecture notes and black/white color, no need any superb graphical or colored printing

Budget around $200 or less...

Thanks in advance!

just bought the Epson L605 Color InkJet printer from Challenger @ $449. Was previously looking to buy the Fuji Xerox M225dw @ $229.

Why this decision?
Epson L605 may be ex, but its running costs is super low. Black $14, other colors at $10 each and lasts for 6000 pages and 5000 pages respectively. And its Prints Per Min is 30ppm vs 27 for M225dw.
Epson L605 also prints colors with photo paper.

It was a no brainer for me because One laser toner for the Fuji Xerox is $90 and prints 2600 pages in black only. I change my toner about once every 3 months. Within a year, Ill earn back the extra costs for the Epson L605.

Have been planning to buy Fuji Xerox M265z...

Like it because of Duplex Auto Feeder Scanning, Duplex Printing & 3yrs on-site warranty with drum coverage.

But model has been out for more than 2yrs, and still so expensive @ $300+?! I also realized that it is an OEM. Exactly same design/functions as Brother L2740DW.

When can i see sub $200 for this again. :( Any lobangs like the one below pls help share. Thanks alot!

I am thinking of buying a laser printer. This is my requirement:

1. Mono
2. Print Scan Copy (3in1)
3. Printing less than 500 per month
4. Below $300
5. wireless, auto duplex, google printing

My other concern is the pricing for the toner. Based on what others mentioned and my research, Fuji Xerox M225dw and canon MF244dw seems to meet my requirements. How do they compare in terms of toner consumption and pricing?

Thank you for any advise.

Anyone has recommendations for a color laser printer that costs less than $400. Need AIO functions like scanner, copier etc. Docu feeder and auto duplex would be good to have.

Help

Hi,

Good day. Does anyone knows how to repair the drum? I have a printer which was left unused for 2 years and now the print out for black is fading. the printout for colors is fine. FX sent 3rd party technicians to check and said the all the colors and black drums are faulty.

I don't mind to work with any experienced technician to work out a deal to get this printer up for use. I'm thinking if a technician can help me to get replacement or salvage the parts from other models.

Thanks and have a nice weekend.

Do. Not buy ...Samsung CLX- 6260FW is a extremely lousy printer. Samsung repair services is of extreme bad quality. I only got to use it properly during the first 9months. After the first 9 months, I have to sent it for repairs almost once every 3 months, as it has 3 year warranty. it is the same problem persisting once every 3 months , blur printouts blur scanning.

Samsung technicians who come for repairs are in blur states. He did not bring along trolley ( I lent him mine ) and did not bring along toners and he propose to come next week to test the printer as he wants to bring along toners next week. I declined, and told him to bring it back to test and check, ( all my toners were original, he insisted that toner could be faulty ) ; as the printer warranty is limited for 3 years. Hence, I do not want to drag it on. Over the
phone, I did explain to the phone operator that my printer had blur printouts, blur scannings.
The technician should have brought along the necessary equipments. He come empty handed.
During the repair, I lamented that Samsung laser printer is of extremely inferior quality as I had issues with Samsung printer $898, barely less than 1 year after using it. I told him I have a few ink jets at home, Epson k200, canon MX886, no problem at all, despite using both for
almost 5 years. My Samsung laser printer has been sent for repair for almost 4-6 times, right after 9 months, within barely less than 2 years. Each time after the repair, there will be clear print outs and scanning for almost 3 months. Therafter, blur printouts and blur scanning returns again. Seriously, Samsung should get to the root of the problem. Sometimes, I am busy and really tired of
sending it for repair, and I just make-do with my 2 other ink-jets. ( cos each time the
serviceman come, I wanted to be at home to explain to him what is wrong with the printer)
Previously, the toner report shows some toners were
about 30 - 40%, but the technician told me I should change toners at 30 - 40% as otherwise the printouts will be blur. I cannot understand why Samsung designed a printer as such, as all my other ink jets only requires replacement of inks when inks were 0%. As consumers, we
will not be able to gauge when is a good time to change toners, unless the printers prompt us.
Normally, the printer only prompt me to change toners at almost 0%. During the first / second
Samsung repair, I wasted 4 toners, as we replaced the 4 toners ( from me) to make sure toners is not the issue. I have no idea what is the toner % in the printer, prior replacement. Despite this, Printouts and scannings by Samsung laser printer are still blur.
Previously, the technicians also told me I should use double A papers, I followed suit as well.
Despite this, Printouts and scannings by Samsung laser printer are still blur. I am very
disappointed and angry with this Samsung printer.

I will not dare to ever buy Samsung printers for this lifetime. My experience with Samsung printer is Horrible…my torment will end in 2019 as That is when my warranty expires...

Wake up thread. I have a Samsung CLX-6260fw, looks like a good time to ask :s13:

so HP has bought over Samsung's printer business and has migrated existing warranties over. Has anybody tried it out yet? Any good/bad?

My printer's jamming even though it has no paper in it and the rollers seem ok...

On 25/1/2018, the service technician come to my house to see to the Samsung laser printer.
He shake the black toner greatly, until my bedsheets, my bed warmer, my floor, is full of black toner powder.
As a layman, who changes printer toners / ink jet inks when printers are out of toners/ inks; I know that if we shake the toner/ ink cartridges; toner powder/ inks will leak onto our hands. As a service technician of Samsung/ HP; how can this technician be so careless to result in black powder in black opaque patches all over my bedsheet, my bed warmer, my floor, my cloth etc. Prior cleaning, there were so many black powder in total black patches on the bed and floor, and bed warmer.
As I worry that the black powder will cause health issues to myself and family, I had no choicebut to throw away my bedsheets, as I am not sure how fine are the blackparticles, and I doubt washing the bedsheets, pillow cases, bolster cases, blankets ; will get rid of the fine black particles; I threw away all these. I do not want to be inhaling the fine particles throughout the night when I am sleeping on the bed. Even during School days, when we did science experiments with chemicals, we had to wear masks, eye goggles, gloves, and safety boots etc; as teachers warned us that some of these chemicals are carcinogenic and should not come into contact with our skin.
My bed warmer cost me almost $1000 when I bought it back then. I have to buy a new bed warmer, as I dare not lie on the bed warmer which has many black particles on it. After the technician left my house, I called him back to ask him to come and clean the bed warmer together, as we have great difficulties removing the black particles from the bed warmer. The technician wanted to leave after helping me to clean up the warmer for 5 mins, as he told me he had other appointments. I told him he has to help me with the cleaning, as he is the one who made a mess ( as I think the longer the particles is left on the warmer, the tougher it is to remove it). He obliged, he did reminded me that he was helping to try to make the printer work. But asa professional, I felt he should not be so careless in his job, to cause a disaster of black powder in black patches in my bedroom. My helper had to vacuum and clean up my room. ( Samsung printer is in my bedroom ). My helper, myself and the technician ; spend a lot of time, trying to remove the black particles on the warmer, but still, the warmer have a lot of black particles on it. Seriously, I totally dare not use the black warmer which has black particles on it, as I worry inhaling the black particles over a long period of time may lead to lung/ other health problems. That will defeat the purpose of me using the warmer as that is to boost blood circulation and to sooth my backaches, and menstruation cramps. I also threw away the 3 brushes that we used for brushing.

Each Samsung toner cost about $198. Previously, the toner report shows some toners were about 30 - 40%, but the technician told me I should change toners at 30 - 40% as otherwise the printouts will be blur. When I ask the technician, Can I trade in my Samsung printer to HP laser printer, he told me HP laser toners are very troublesome and need HP to issue some documents before we can change the toner. I then replied How can that be, as that will chase away all customers.
When he was about to leave, I lamented again that Samsung printer is of super inferior quality and I hope HP spare parts will really rectify my printer issue. He told me spare parts are still from Samsung, just that HP stickers is pasted over the parts,
( as of Nov 2017, Samsung sold their printing arm to HP)
