Thanks, will tried later.........................:)

By the way, my modem is connected by the comm port and not USB port.....................;)

Wah comm port? Shouldn't it be at least the LAN port?

You are using desktop i presume? Why not try to use LAN? With that i don't think you'll have any issues??

Ok but then don't you think it's strange that you installed win 8 and your cable modem not working? Not very link isn't it? Though anything is possible but if your cable modem receive power from your PC then it's not working i can understand but if it's through the wall socket and the only thing that connects to your PC is your LAN then the cable modem is likely the one having issue rather than Win 8. So far i heard installing Win 8 clean solve quite a few of the issues mentioned for people like us who upgraded it from Win 7

No, it's working fine & I can surf the internet but just that the bottom right always once a while prompt u a notification saying that "USB is not abled to recognise this unknown device".

Now, I am connecting also the USB from the modem to the computer as well and see is it ok or not. Is it ok to connect the USB & Lan cable from the modem to the PC at the same time ?

Now looked like the device name is appearing on the device manager.

See how.............................:)

Wow.... you are .... :s22::s22::s22:

There is no need to connect the usb, just the LAN port will do.

The USB issue should be another device connected to your pc, not the modem.

I got it working liao...

Its the famous Error 80004005: Unspecified Error.

After playing around, need to run it in administrator mode. It was not like that a few weeks back. Maybe a windows update changed that.

Now WinZip also need to be run in administrator mode to zip/unzip properly...

Strange...must be one windows update that had caused it.

Edit: Confirmed...something wrong with the system temp folder. point to other directory, everything ok.
