Officer - need to in-pro early but out-pro last. look through training plan before ICT....blah blah blah. Serve until 50.

3SG and above - need to supervise the men. account and be responsible for all your men's whereabouts.

CPL n below - walk around and drink kopi. report to cook house zun zun for nice lunch n dinner. Who wants promotion??

Actually CPL quite dangerous. Last time my CPL rank is biggest among my ICT group. Then my PC want to promote me to 3SG. I moody.

Then out of sudden, the next ICT got 3 new 3SG come in. I was quickly forgotten..... PC see me also treat me invisible.

The new batch.....a lot of 3SG. If you are CPL, ish beh kan.

If your PC want to promote you, whether Pass/Fail IPPT also not a concern.
Why deliberately fail when you can pass IPPT?

If war really comes.....no need for promotion.

We will see natural leader. A chao private can be a leader and officers could also become as meek as a mouse.
Far fetch? Nope. War comes....alot of things changed.

can...u can either go and

1. study medicine and get promoted to CPT (Dr) NS and lead ur medics into war. Extend another 10 years after MR, u will get Major. ---->hmmm...

2. Be the first NSmen to get promoted till SWO and beyond. So far, i think only got 1 3rd sergeant promoted to 1WO and was featured in Pioneer magazine. Anyway, if u can get promoted after SWO, u will be converted to CPT or Major ( or they might give u a chao 2LT..lol)---->hmmmm cool..

Seriously, people will only laugh at you. No one is going to admire you for it. For 2 weeks per year, u wayang infront of a gp of people who can't even be bothered with you. ---->makes one wonder why people even bother to chiong during their NSF days.

Put more effort into your teaching and help make a difference to the lives of lousy students. If u want challenge and pride, dun go and teach in SAP/good schools. Request to go to neighborhood schools and teach normal aca/technical streams. Every one student that you help to steer back into good/diligence is a pride of honor that is worth more than a chocolate bar, crab or star on your shoulder. ----->that's what i intend to do, they need more teachers who want to make a difference.

At your deathbed, seriously, wat counts as satisfaction that u have not lead a regretful life is not that " oh, i make occifer" ( and if u count that as satisfaction, i feel sad for u actually...), ----->i at this

but "hey, i think i managed to make a difference to the lives of many students"

think about it.----->thinking!

near ORD i asked my PC the exact opposite. he tio stunned & dunno what to say.

i thought at most 1. in any case war is undesirable, nobody will be thinking about promotion by then.

totally agree with you. TS should definitely go in this direction rather than waste time with NS, which would certainly get him nowhere except boost his own ego. I'm sure TS principal in the school would not be too pleased if he/she knows that TS volunteer to get promoted and try to do more NS, rather than put more effort into your school stuff. Lucky i'm not TS boss at work... else he dun need to work for me liao......

Not really leh. My ICT hor, the officers always suka suka night off, night out one. Then never inform anyone. Even if platoon/company/battalion level night's off, they also never wait for arms clear then just book out liao.

Each got their benefits lah.

Not true leh. How it works is:

Officer say got saikang to do.
PS will tell everyone what's the saikang.
3SG will tell men how to clear the saikang and supervise.
Men clear saikang.

Unless of course, you are super un-coorporative and is usually the only one/few to slack in bunk while everyone else is clearing saikang.

You should just go aim for promotion in MOE to superscale la. then you will be like on the same level or even higher rank in the civil service than those with 2 crabs in the military.

alternatively, you go become DXO la. after u grad u join saf at least DX9 which is abt the rank of CPT. then u up rank lor?

or the best is just become LTA (NCC) solve the problem.

in NS there is only 2 type of ppl to be.

1. Lowest Rank Lifeform

2. Highest Rank Lifeform

Anything in between takes most of the ****, unless you are very good Kung Fu skills like Tai Chi or Dodging.

So unless you are a Presidential Scholar or High Flying Regular, you wont be the highest Rank Lifeform. Thus do aim for the Lowest Rank Lifeform and put your Passion elsewhere.

In SAF, Passion means nothing. It wont translate into achievements and it wont translate into respect. If you got **** PR Skills / EQ but you are a high flier with big rank (COL/BG and more), ppl will give you "respect" while inside. However once come outside you are still the same as everyone else.

I would rather you put your passion into carving out your career and family then wasting your life into something that is not even worth wasting.

Har. Commanders ICT 3 days longer, when everybody nua or sleeping in bunk, we attending meetings, recce for exercise, always book in earlier and book out later than our guys, even if pass IPPT still must acc our men take the test... where got good
