Gotta compare apples with apples, I thought another guy's diamond listed here was more exp than mine, then I realized his was a solasfera, some ppl dun say their the diamond type clearly.. From what I've seen in this whole thread, JP is consistent. In fact, the price the price on Bluenile fluctuates alot more.

The different cuts will have different prices. The Solasfera, Octagon, Super ideal, Brellia, etc. won't cost the same. Diamonds are like commodities.. it'll have price fluctuations too just like gold. Lee hwa quoted me a pair of wedding bands about 3 months ago, and the price was $150 different compared to now for the same thing.

Yupp and i believe diamond prices have been coming down these days actually.. as you can see from the announcements made by Sarine Tech (listed on SGX). Though, i dont believe diamond prices actually came down much when SGD Strengthened?
I agree that JP is cheaper than the more commercial places. But i cant help but feel upset if other people got it cheaper than me from the same place? Just trying to confirm if thats the case. haha. Thanks a lot for your help!

well i got quoted a 0.622 F VS1 at $6750...
i guess probably 1k cheaper than that? im still thinking if it make sense too, but yet to see the diamond under the scope.

Let me guess, 5.1k?

Solasfera is a different category already. It's has a lot more faceting (91) than the normal rounds (57). If you compare it with the Brilliant rose which has 66 facets, someone bought a 0.53 ct d color vs1 @ 7.6k already. If I'm not wrong, the Solasfera should still be priced much lower than that.

The actual price is 5.3k, on another note, i went to Meyson HQ and saw their Hearts and Arrows solitaire rings , made a comparison and find the fire is significantly more beautiful than the Solasfera. I remember that previously when I compared the Super Ideal & Solasfera loose diamonds, I do not see that a big difference. I wonder what is the reason? My 6 prongs vs Meyson 4 prongs? Or if the lighting at Meyson is more focus on fire than in Jann Paul?

Was your diamond ring clean? I notice sometimes when there's fingerprint marks on the diamond surface, it will affect how it looks. The Solasfera is suppose to be more scintillating whereas the Super ideal is more firey. More facets will have a lot more sparkles but each will be smaller. If can, should compare outdoors where there is no lighting tricks.

My colleague bought the Solasfera too. My gf prefer non-round shape diamonds so I ended up with their Brellia. He went to Tiffany with him to compare and can see the Solasfera shining much better. But I don't know kind of spot light Tiffany uses.

Hi all need some advice/feedback,

went down to JP to have a browse for wedding bands. They seem to recommend the eternity?(not sure what its called) type, those with diamond ones for the female.

honestly how practical are they for everyday wear as compared to a simpler design without diamond or just a few.

Thanks

I clean it and it still looked kind of cloudy under spotlight. What carat size did your friend get? I think it could be due to my diamond carat size being only a 0.54, the mini sparkles end up looking more like dust particles under the spotlight. I didn't manage to have a chance to compare with others under the normal lighting but it does seems beautiful by itself under fluorescent light or during a cloudy weather.

Personally, I feel that a half eternity ring is better, there is a higher chance of striking the bottom part of a full eternity ring, causing the diamonds to drop out. A full eternity ring also does not allow resizing. Lastly, a half eternity might be cheaper and provide almost the same look.

Agree that half eternity is better than full eternity.. but I think plain / lesser diamond is more suitable for lifetime usage.

Plain wedding bands are more classic and will last for a lifetime :)

Colour : K
Carat : 1.13
Clarity : SI1
3Ex
Fluorescence : Strong Blue

HCA : 1.6
ED Diamond Score : 100
GIA Number : 6173306967
Price : $5,785.00
Setting : $355.00

To follow up on my a/m purchase, I collected it just now. Just to show an option of lower colours which seems to be overlooked here.

Of course, some people may be colour sensitive and won't go anything below E-F but those who want more bang for their buck, then you guys can consider those in the H-J range. Tbh, I chose this K cause it was the only worthy one in Meyson's inventory list. It helped also that it had a strong blue fluorescence which imo brough up the colour to a J at least. All pics taken with my phone camera, sorry if bad quality.

Under normal daylight. Quite cloudy when I took this

Side profile where the K colour can be seen. Sorry for the dirty fingernails :s22:

Specs :

Proportions and insertions, depth abit on the high side :

Apparently, even with a GIA cert, Meyson decided they should also grade it with their inhouse grade, SIG since they qualify it as a H&A.

If you look up on the internet, their old light performance card separated Excellent and Very Good. Now they lump it together. Maybe the diamonds they have now, not alot fall under Excellent. Cannot lie too much to themselves I think. So simpler to lump VG and Ex together :s13:

Lastly, the tax invoice to show really the amount i listed is what i paid.

HCA score. As i mentioned, the depth abit deep, thus the higher score but still below 2 though, (or so I try to convince myself lah). Cant complain much with the price i paid for it. If the depth dropped to 60.9%, will fall to 1.4. Drop to 60.3%, you get 4ex on the HCA. But a difference of 2% is quite alot. Guess beggars cant be choosers lol.

The only thing I dont have are scopes of any kind. Basically, I bought blind based on numbers alone. That's the risk when buying from retailers like Meyson I guess.

hth for anyone who is looking for an e-ring but budget on the limited side. :s12::s12:

If I'm reading it correctly, there's quite a huge feather at the side of the diamond. This means that it'll be more prone to chipping or cracking over the years. Do take note of that and be more careful when wearing the ring 💍
