or rather, what should i look out for, with regards to the diamond?

i saw some nice melee rings at meyson that were really affordable but dont know if i should care about the diamonds used

IMO not much difference. It's a nice touch that JP uses hearts and arrows melees but they are so small that honestly it doesn't make a visible difference...

Actually IMO solasfera melees won't make a center G diamond look more visibly yellow, cos the sparkle of the solasfera is more iridiscent/rainbow... Abit hard to describe, the proper term would be that its scintillation is the fire type (white sparkles) and less of the flash type (coloured sparkles)

Hmm I didnt really get to see a solasfera diamond the last time I was there. All I know is people in forum saying that it's super sparkly haha. The next time I head down I'll check it out! Gonna compare the ideal cut diamond which we reserved with a super ideal cut diamond. Can't believe the last time we didn't compare their sparkles ><

More but smaller sparkles. The more typical cuts are less but bigger sparkles.

Solasfera splits the light into even more parts than usual.

Leerwin, I think it’s fantastic you’re getting a ring, period. Actually it’s just super that you’re proposing. Really, if your girl friend truly loves you, she wouldn’t care if it’s a $100 ring. It’s the commitment on your part that you want to marry her and be with her. You can always get a “real” ring for her years or decades later!

I got a — in all honesty — a crappy ring from my then fiancé , probably a simulant not even a lab grown diamond, set in silver! It is now so tarnished... but it’s been more than a decade and he is now getting me a “proper” diamond ring (and huge too!). For years I never cared for a real ring or what not... now, it’s just a nice gesture and I do think it’s a beautiful ring, and I appreciate it v much. But the very gesture of proposing to me, and wanting to be with me... means much more than any diamonds in the world.

So, good luck! She will just be v happy with your commitment.

I wish I had a paper ring when I was proposed to! Save the $500 or so my then fiancé spent , lol.

Eh I tot the $600 rate only applies to diamond purchased there? U managed to set your diamond which was purchased from elsewhere at HOH for $600?

I think that’s old rate or something, I always tot for diamond not purchased there, they quote 1k for plain.

I know the side diamonds are held by the prongs to give it a nice cushion shape but I am just so bothered by the spaces between each diamond as they look like lines from the top and side view. My bf finds no issue with them.

I'm just wondering, how obvious would these spaces be in real life? How accurate are their 3d renders? :/ Any idea if there are other kinds of prongs which would also give it a nice cushion shape?

I think they will not be that obvious from eye level?
But since u r the one wearing it and u r bothered by it then u shud change it. Do it while u still can. I think not all guys are meticulous or bothered about such details afterall you will be the one looking at it Everyday.

I personally also do think it looks weird with the lines.
