Hmm.. i'll ask them to make the diamonds smaller. the thick to thin band is it the slanted ones?

Better u check in person, if the width of the band gets smaller (melee diamonds smaller), the diamonds on the band might just look like dots and not diamonds. Individual preferences, better see it with your own eyes.

Can I just ask how Long do you guys wait for an ideal diamond for JP. Since I heard that they are not commission based And there are so many sales person and so many ppl waiting for a suitable diamond how do you know if the diamond that is ideal for u wun fall onto others?
Does anybody know how it works?
First come first served, you can ask them to notify you when they have new stocks in, then quickly go and chope the better or more value for money ones

Hi all. Im planning to propose late next year. What is a good time to start looking around for diamonds. Understand that each shipment is always different and varies in quality as well so I don’t want to find myself in a situation where it’s nearing my intended time of proposal but I cannot find something that fits my criteria.

I have a budget to $8k with setting. Possibly looking at side diamonds. Will most probably get from JP, solasfera with minimum VS2 and color F. What carat will that usually give me?

You can give them a call or drop an email to tell them about your requirements. If have new shipment of what you are waiting for, you can go down to see and buy first.

Solasfera and octagon are 15% higher in price, compared to super ideal and cushion, if they are same specs.
Setting is $550 (plain).
Super ideal (0.72, F, VS1) cost around 6.9k, without setting.
I would say, you should be getting around a carat of 0.7 (solasfera), with your budget.

You can check back to your sales, to see if they can take a better photo for you. Might just be an angle issue.

You don't seem to like this diamond, based on your past few posts.
Maybe contact your sales for more alternative? Haha.

Thanks for the reply! If I reserve, do you know how Long they’re willing to keep it for?

You need to pay a deposit if you are interested in the diamond.
If not, it is first come first served.

After deposit, they will hold for 3 months for you to make your decision, on whether to get that diamond or change to another diamond.
After 3 months, most likely will forfeit the deposit.

Ya, I am going down today again to check.

This diamond is another alternative that they let me choose, 0.56 E VS1.

Previously the diamond I posted is 0.51 F VS2.

Cant decide which.

0.51 girdle is slightly thick at 4.0% with inclusions such as crystal, cloud, pinpoint.

While 0.56 the scope images like not prefect plus with few inclusions such as crystal, cloud, needle, pinpoint.

A few inclusions are to be expected. Since you are getting VS1 and VS2 range.
If not, you can move to higher clarity, VVS1 or VVS2.
Unless you are very particular about those inclusions or you can see using naked eyes, I suggest to stick to it.

Clarity is not just graded on the number of inclusions but on the severity of the inclusions.

E.g. you can have a VS2 with just 1 cloud inclusion but VS1 with crystal, cloud, needle, pinpoint, but that's because the VS2 cloud is one large clump vs the VS1 having much smaller inclusions spread out across the whole diamond.

My advice is to use a loupe to examine instead of just basing it off the description on the cert

Noted guys.

But what are the inclusions in the diamond that I should avoid?

As I also have 2 other diamonds but with feather inclusions in it.
(1 is VS1 and another is VVS2).

Should i be concern abt it?

As long as the feather is not along the girdle, but it shouldn't be otherwise it would have failed JP's selection criteria already

FYI, side diamond settings are at approx $1200. With halo would be $1500. So if your budget is $8k with settings, I would say your diamond would cost $6500 to $6700. If you're getting a solasfera, I think you can only hope for around 0.6x diamond, which is hard to find.

Let's say in 3 months I wanna keep the diamond but 3 months later got better diamond..can change the diamond then? ><

I'm very worried leh.. Keep asking them to change my ring settings.. Something amiss :( will they forfeit my deposit ah if I take so long to decide?lol

To add on, I think for this budget better to get Super Ideal and max size because.... after a while every girl gets used to the diamond size and will wish it's a bit more 😂😂

But anyway I'm sharing this link with a side by side comparison of a 0.6 and a maybe 0.73: https://www.diamdb.com/compare/0.6ct-round-5.48x5.48x3.3-vs-0.73ct-round/

Ya actually I feel super ideal more worth than solasfera but well, to each his own! :)

in the end I found an ideal diamond instead because to me, slight misalignment in arrows doesn't really affect sparkles.. But I've yet to compare my ideal diamond with their super ideal diamond. Their initial proposed ideal diamond had difference in sparkles compared to their super ideal diamond so I can't believe I allowed my SO to place deposit for our ideal diamond without comparing side by side hahaha bt scopes wise, my ideal diamond looked better than their initial proposed ideal diamond so I'm thankful :)

Btw, that's an awesome website to compare diamond carats and also size of diamond on finger size! Love it hahaha

Haha I heard of the website from weddingbee :) I'm sure you made a good decision getting the Ideal! I love diamonds and I would be happy with any sort of diamond once they have passed a certain quality level. Do share your diamond/ ring pics with us!
