No no don't get me wrong. I'm happy with the diamond (give me time to request for scope images)!

I just envisioned us to go to MANY stores to compare diamond specs and prices. Going to tiff&co and cartier was just to make me happy as I knew we would never buy our rings from there but I still wanted the feeling of entering the shops haha. These kinda shops can only get you half carat for $10k and low 0.7 for $15k. F/G VS1/VS2 kind. And they don't tell you anything else other than their diamonds are carefully cut and selected. I just remember tiff&co lightings are blinding. And their patented designs which I'm not a fan of xD

Then we went love&co. They only have H&A scope but we could only view from the top but even then their arrows weren't quite distinct. I like their ring designs though! But diamond more important at this stage heh.

Then it was JP. I was considering between heart shape, cushion brellia, super ideal cut and octagon cut. In the end didn't choose any of those because heart shape no bling (still dam sad omg). For cushion brellia, most of the carat weight goes to its depth so it actually looks smaller than a round of the same carat weight. Octagon cut looks like a round at an arm's length away (for carat weights below 1 at least) but costs a premium, felt not worth to spend on it. Didn't get a super ideal cut because they had an awesome 0.72 carat weight ideal cut which falls within budget :D This was after much effort from Ranjit at entertaining us and amazingly he could tell it was a good diamond before checking with scopes :)

Anyway now I'm sad because my diamond search journey was so short.. So short that I'm still searching for reviews of other shops lol I mean, I know I can trust JP/HOH since my diamond from HOH side, but I guess I still need to feed my curiosity haha.

Hello, was there a huge price difference between your ideal cut and super ideal cut?
How about the fire/ scintillation with the naked eye?

You can always request JP to search for u a cheaper less-than-ideal diamond if u wish, it will still probably cheaper than other shops.

I think most people has the misunderstanding that JP only sells high quality diamond. They do have access to the same world wide diamond database that whole-sellers has access to and able to offer those diamonds too, just that your invoice entity might be coming from House of Hung instead of JP.

I'm happy with my ideal diamond :) I don't think I can go for a less-than-ideal diamond for a few thousand dollars xD haha but thanks! And yes, my invoice was from house of hung! :)

How about your box? Is it from JP or HoH? Or do they share a standard one?

Is it because you would like something bigger? If that's the case you and your partner can save up more and up the budget :) I think it will be worth it as long as you are happy with the diamond you eventually get!

72 is kind of a special number to my SO and I so nope, not gonna go for bigger. Was asking SO if we could swap our ideal for their super ideal diamond but it would bust his budget. I even offered to top up the difference. That was when he flipped and snapped at me. "Can't believe you value diamond over me." Something along those lines la HAHAHA sooooooooo sticking with it :)

but still, curious to find out if there are shops who provide scopes (other than the H&A) to view the diamond and allow potential customers to take the diamond out of shop to view :) nothing is better than viewing diamond under natural lighting I feel! :D

Anyone bought ideal diamonds from HOH?

Pls correct me if I'm wrong but their Ideal diamonds are still very good performing diamonds with the naked eye right?
If naked eye can tell diff, is it to trained eyes? Or very obvious when compared side by side?
If naked eye can't tell the diff, how to justify the price difference?

Personally trying to decide if the premium for a SIC is worth it... Didn't get the chance to compare Ideal diamond when I dropped by recently

Their ideal diamonds still blings but not as much as their super ideal under natural lighting. Under bright lights, I feel all shine the same lol. In any case, for their ideal diamonds, they have a range of light performing diamonds, from good to very good to better good xD hahaha u gotta see it to understand what I mean. I remembered for my diamond, Ranjit could tell it was a high light performing diamond before checking with the scopes. I trusted him so much that I didn't bother comparing my diamond with the super ideal diamond under natural lighting. Felt it was a mistake but thinking about it, scopes can't lie right?

You could always request to view ideal diamonds but the search for a high light performing ideal diamond could take a while due to the range that they have.

which band u think is the nicest? diamond is the same. The original band that i wanted was 1.8mm. they said 1.5mm is thinnest recommended for side diamonds. the next option is to taper the band from 2mm to 1.4mm.

my aim is for the diamond to look the biggest and best on finger :D

taper band would be best to showcase the centre diamond. it make the center diamond look bigger.

Sorry I didn't manage to compare my ideal diamond with the super ideal diamond as I could tell my SO was tired and really just wanted to settle and move out. Will compare when we have the time to go down again to look at their sample rings (disclaimer: not our priority for now :x).

Quotes from a month back:
My ideal 0.72 E VS1 cost $6200
A super ideal 0.72 G VS1 cost $6600
A super ideal 0.72 F VS2 cost $6750

Saw a quote From another forumer about a week ago:
A super ideal 0.72 F VS1 around $6900

Its not a fair comparison in terms of colour but that's the good ideal that they had. The price jump in colour is more than the price jump in clarity. The original ideal we saw and managed to compare with the super ideal was a 0.77 E VS1 or VS2, can't remember, sorry, but I remember the blings weren't as obvious as the super ideal. I recall the arrows in the scopes weren't as distinct while the distribution of red and green were somewhat off the super ideal's.

As to whether it's worth it to spend that few hundred more for a "near perfect cut" diamond, I think that's an answer you'd have to come up with yourself. For myself initially I wanted that "near perfect cut" (or super ideal) diamond but having gone through pages in this forum and seeing people getting an ideal diamond due to HCA score being more than 1.4 or colour being a H or slight misalignment in arrows, I figured I would be okay with HCA score being more than 1.4 and slight misalignment in arrows but I can't live with a H colour xD and thankfully, we managed to find that ideal diamond with a special number to us :)

I like the uniform 1.8mm band but if you want to look biggest then should get tapered but I think better to ask if they have a sample of a ring with a 2 to 1.4mm band and see if you'd like it.

Btw, what settings are your side diamonds on? Like the view from the top!

Can't help but to seek opinions lol. Amongst these 3, which is nicest? I know the uniform band is 1.5mm.
A (they call this normal pave halo and side diamonds)
https://ibb.co/j9pKH8
B (French pave halo and side diamonds, added milgrain on inner ring and tapered band)
https://ibb.co/gpzaqT
C (Normal pave halo and French pave side diamonds. Uniform band. Pls ignore the rose gold, going to request for them to change back to white gold)
https://ibb.co/mCa4jo

Basically I want my halo to make my round look like a cushion. (Didn't spend on a cushion as the carat weight of the diamond went to its depth, making it look smaller than a round of the same carat weight. Didn't feel worth spending extra for a special cut but look smaller diamond lol.) Felt the normal pave does the job well but I can't stand the "lines" that seem to appear between the diamond prongs :( so then I requested for French pave halo but omg it looks like a mess T_T does anyone know which setting would be good for a cushion shape halo? :(

I need not my diamond look biggest but at least decent enough but I like both kinda bands.. Thought may be good to seek opinions from you guys before I seek for more revisions from their team >< hahaha

Advance thanks!!

0.54 E VS1.

Finally decided on it and send to craft.

Thanks for Julie and Joy for helping me out!

Lol, there were originally two SIC 0.54 E VS1s. I bought one at the start of June and you bought the other today. 4.2k diamond only iirc?

Both are great diamonds. Congrats!
