If DeBeers is pushing the labgrown down to $800/ct, how much then would it be worth to the cutter spending so much time cutting a perfect (low cost) stone?

i see, well, will see if my SO prefers a diamond then. i think ultimately thats the reason why ppl are willing to splurge on something that depends heavily on a controlled market for its value..

Good cutters are unwilling to cut labgrown diamonds becos theres no profit or value in it for them. As the price falls further, theres even less value. I rem there was a point of time when HPTP and CVDs were priced almost the same as natural diamonds and you could find better cut diamonds in them. But as the price keeps falling, the time spent on cutting them is not worthwhile as it gets lesser profits.

I guess thats also why the labgrowns are all IGI certified instead of GIA.
IGI is sh*t cert. Say you get a F Color IGI cert, it will come out to be a I Color IGI.
Even for natural diamonds, ppl do avoid IGI certs for the inflated gradings and IGI graded diamonds itself are sold cheaper becos ppl know its inaccurate.

I dont see any value in getting lab growns for now at least when prices are still dropping like crazy and its all IGI certified. I would at least wait it out until the price hits about $200-300 for a 1ct then consider.

Looks like the self-advertiser from LUXIEE got banned. Lol

It was very obvious they were just self advertising here la. I never got Luxiee concept. They're doing exactly the same as all the other drop shippers like Blue nile, James allen, etc. but just calls it differently.

I wouldn't trust a company that's willing to sell EGL, HRD, etc. You see all the diamonds on their website, can tell they are all badly proportioned. Don't even need to bother asking for the scopes. And I guess that's also why they don't put the scopes online.

ya lor, for me, the elephant in the room is marketing. how can two identical objects be made to be thought of differently.

if anything, the abbundance of lab grown diamonds should diminish the significance of natural diamonds as a gift as its no longer rare...thats the fact i cant get over..thats why wanna understand more.

Nothing special about it, all about marketing and the marks they’ve engraved into the society, rarity aren’t the main factor of the price, it’s more of the social status / impressions. Just like branded goods and watches, the materials aren’t even rare and workmanship aren’t anywhere worth paying tens/hundreds of thousands for but still, people would like to own one.

You're safe with JP la. I see all the past scopes from JP are perfect. If you want to be doubly sure, post the scopes online here when you receive them.

went down to JP today. was shown a SIC 0.43 F VVS1 diamond which is quoted at $2750. Was impressed with this diamond and made a deposit on the spot. Have to wait for them to send me the scopes.

Just wanna check if you guys think this diamond is really value for the money? HCA score is 0.6

Too bad they don't have any stock for their Octagon.

My HK friend said JP is popular in their community, I bet my 2 cents they were booking up octagons because 888, his wife has a 1ct octagon ring and now looking for decagon pendant. HK all in a mess, and JP does do online clients. The virus really messed up my planned dates. At least my girlfriend gave me heads up she really wants the decagon. Was going to get a round pre-**.

Back in Feb this year, 1.06C G VS1 was quoted $14,600. The diamond you are looking at is a good price to buy.

Guys I need some help. My gf has these pics saved on her pinterest. The only hint I have is her best friend told me she wants the decagon. My budget is 7-8k.

This pic is also saved in her pinterest, but they're all totally different designs. I delayed my proposal plans to next year cause of the covid situation but I want to surprise her soon.

But the esigns.... are all different. Should I go the safe route and get something simple first then customize later or request something like this from jannpaul? I'm not good with all these designs and I'm wrecking my head on this already..

My vote is the 2nd pic of the rosegold ring on top right. The side view is very swee. If she has those pics on her hint list, you’re quite good to go already.

They do free customizations anyway. So you might as well pick the custom route if time allows.

Nothing wrong. Just that I noticed there's more ppl getting 1cts lately. haha
Yours is a 1.06ct and is not at the direct 1.00ct mark that you should avoid. So that's a good start already. Anyway youre getting from JP anyway, so they would have done all the filters out already.
