Can consider

Thank you Miltah!
Unfortunately I do not have the scope photos with me for a more accurate analysis..

My gf and I are thinking to go down to JP after browsing this thread with the good reviews. However it seems like a 0.3 at JP is at 1.8k onwards - anyone able to advise if it is worth it to top up that 1.1k as compared to the diamond mentioned earlier at 700sgd?

Thanks in advance!

Personally I wouldn’t. But it’s your call

In my view, the setting is just as impt as the diamond. There are also different setting quality too - workmanship, design, amount of gold used (I’ve seen really thin and settings that have hollow areas), gold porosity concerns, etc.
I believe all these plays a part in its cost too.

Summore that setting is what is holding your expensive rock safe. It’s like buying a race car with cheap rubber tyres.

Thanks for sharing, I totally agree with what you’ve mentioned that’s why I think the price range quoted from the jewellers I’ve visited to be really reasonable for a durable setting to hold my precious stone. Wouldn’t want to risk losing my stone just to save that few hundreds of dollars. Your analogy is gold :s13:

JP offers- free cad designing + photo imposing and customising till your hearts content - free video montage of your ring - after services. If you have a friend who has a classic JP ring, bring it to Tiffany and co, I think you’ll be shocked JP’s workmanship is even better. 200 is way below the worlds market price. Forget even workmanship, last thing you want is your diamond to drop off

Agreed! So far, I am most impressed with JP in terms of their offering, quality, after-sales service and their overall service standards.

Looking at the price difference, I wouldn’t think is worth it. Based on your GIA report no it looks to be a good stone for that price(0.29 E VVS2 for 700SGD). But I think a cert alone is not that indicative of the performance so if possible, try to see the diamond with the ASET scope to really determine.

On a side note, I feel there’s no harm heading down to JP if time permits and see what’s the best they can offer you based on your budget (at least that’s what I did, more quotations so I can compare). Be prepared to spend like 2 hours for your first appointment at JP as they will give you an educational introduction to buying a diamond which has been really helpful in my journey together with the advices given by the experts here. Goodluck in your search too! :)

It all depends on you, if your concern is budget and wants a 0.3, that’s a good price point for a 0.29.

If budget is not a concern to you, I’ll suggest get 0.5+ at JP at ideal or better cut. At 0.3, paying over twice for a better cut doesn’t really seem worth it as the diamond surface area aren’t that big to begin with.

Mine's not a solitaire but if it helps, this is a superimposed photo of my ring design render on my gf's hand. My diamond is the octagon.

finally got the Scopes for comparison

0.474 E VS1 $3,500 Cushion Brellia

0.445 G VVS1 $2,900 cushion Brellia

0.534 F VVS1 $5,050 cushion Brellia

Their collection stuff like cushion brellia and octagon has no competition since they own the rights to it. Supply is limited though since they’re very strict on them, so scope wise they’re all good. You need to consider these yourself: are you color sensitive? Then E. Does having a 0.5x matter a lot? Cause the price jump is significant. When you viewed the diamonds which looks better on your finger and is the price jump justifyable for you? If you want savings and not Color sensitive then the G.

Thank for your advice!
Waiting for the superimpose pic to make a better decision
I’m able to see the differences in colour after G
Can’t really tell E and F
But I guess if I don’t compare side by side
I won’t be able to notice much diff
