Just tell them you want cheaper plan, better (shorter) contract and faster speed... if cannot get special then will sign with M1 25mbps fibre.

Hi is there a way to determine whether it is a dsl line signal problem or router problem as I gets disconnected intermittently.

Sometime as frequent as as once a day to 3-4times a day

Is there something in the router's admin panel which reads the dsl signal quality?

Thanks for the quick reply liangtam
Currently I have only 1 router (2wire 5012NV) and modem (speedtouch ST536) both given by singtel.

So do you mean that ST536 should be able to display the dsl signal "quality"?

Thankyou

I am currently using the speedtouch 536v6 (bridge mode) and buffalo wireless router WHR-G54S, and was on 3Mbps.

Just got a new wireless modem 5012NV from SingTel for the 10Mbps upgrade.

Question :

Do I need to replace my ST & Buffalo with the new 2Wire to enjoy the 10Mbps ?

If so, can the 2wire be set on bridge mode ?

have been on the speedtouch modem since around 4 yrs bk, moving up from 3mbps to 10mbps. no issues so far. the modem is also in bridge mode, with a wireless router at the other end to provide wireless connectivity.

depending on your usage, the 2wire modem may not be suitable. my own experience (running a starhub digital voice line) was that its not good enough for intense applications.

yes, if i recall correctly, the 2wire can be set in bridge mode.

Thanks, Cheng. I love the Speedtouch - Very reliable and stable. Will retain its service then.

Is the $23 promo still on via calling the retention department? :D
yes. Only for recontract.

For existing 3Mbps user, there is another option for recontract If you don't need higher speed - $22.90 for 3Mps with free home line subscription. Which mean you only pay for talk time and any other value added services for your home line. There only one catch, you need to sign two years contract.

Don't think its avail thru email no more.
And besides, its for ppl left with 1 mth recontract

If you do not fulfill the requirement, don't bother calling.
