For background info, I got a mailer that says I will enjoy up to 5 months free subscription and $100 handset discount when I re-contract on Fibre.

You can actually call 1688, speak to an operator and ask them to transfer you to retention department.

Another way is to call 62217277 (Sales) and ask whoever to transfer you to retention department.

Initially, the retention department did not offer the $100 handset discount. At most is 7 months free subscription plus waiver of $90 installation. But I managed to include the $100 handset discount because the mailer says so.

if my mobile plan is from other telco, can i opt for other promo instead of the $100 handset discount?

Recontracted on 24-mth 15 mbps ($29.9 w/GST) with the following:

  • 3 months of subscription fee waiver
  • 12 months $10 rebate on fixed line
  • 1gb mobile 7.2 mbps sim card

Decided not to go for fibre though the deal is good but I really don't need that much bandwidth. For those interested to recontract on ADSL, you need to ask Sales to transfer you to Retention (or Salvage; that's what they call it :s13:). That's the department that can give you 3 months of fee waiver.

Same apply to Fibre BB too. ADSL will keep lagging when video streaming so not advisable to sign ADSL.

a bit confused with ADSL, im using 10mbps right now, is it considered ADSL?

so it is better to upgrade to the fibre home bundle?

10mbps is indeed ADSL (ADSL 2+ actually) for singtel case

I did not face any lagging during video streaming while I was on 10mbps previously. I am now on 200m

Doubt he had used adsl connection before.

Mobile broadband. Sim card to put in ur tablet or smartphone and you can connect to internet. Only to be used 1Gb data monthly. More than that, you'll be charged extra. :s8:

Mobile BB for emergency use. I also got a usb modem stick and in case fibre big down, a few hours no connection and need internet urgent just plug the stick into your notebook usb and you will be able to surf. If you excess, 1Gb data cost $10+.

I am on Singtel fibre expiring in August. Plan to switch to Orange camp. Can I get M1 to start their fibre contract in June or July (before terminating Singtel in August) which means I have both orange and red camp service at the same time during June/July? Thanks!
(Thinking of starting M1 early as they may have free 6 months offer during IT show)
