Go there walk walk. Most of the time grab to different locations.
Anyways, food rating by people quite exaggerated.

it has remained stagnant for decades, not just 10 years. i don't actually understand the charm of penang as a tourist destination apart from the beachfront.

It is be cause it remained stagnant and thus preserved much of the older buildings.

ya i agree driving there is not easy....need to be defensive

Penang is one of the more friendly driving compared to KL, where any Singaporeans cars will get challenged from time to time, even in the car park.

One time, I flew into Penang and rented a Perodua Axia or something, those 1 little tiny car. The feeling is totally different, I suddenly blended in with the local...πŸ™ of course exercising caution is a must still!!! Driving is a must in Penang and that save one lots of time...

Many places in Penang is just not to far to drive to but just a tad too far to walk to... Like Georgetown... You can say you walk around but it will be damn tired if your don't drive.

penang beach no fight against thailand, its never try to compete in this area also. ppl mostly go penang for food, but taste is usually subjective (thats why some diehard fans will prefer SG food)
those diehard fans are natives of Penang ..they are the ones harping penang food is good

I had been to Penang twice, once travelled there by bus and once travelled by cruise. What impressed me are Penang Hill and beaches not so much the food. The weather up Penang hill was cool in those days not sure now. In fact Langkawi is better if you like beaches and remnants from the past.

Imo the real gem of Penang are the durian plantations at the back of the island which most tourist dun go to. For durian lovers
