Many thanks all for the life-saving advice. Will check out Leopold as that ticks the checkbox for me. Q5 is out as I require multi-device BT support. Was looking at the Filco Majestouch Convertible 2 but it's quite a dated design (with BT 3.0), so the Leopold looks better.
Separately, how would you rate the difference between Brown and Red switches? Know that Browns have a hump but wonder if that's discerning in real life.
If your computer is near to your keyboard, BT3 is fine for general office use. Filco is perhaps amongst the laziest brands to update their keyboards but the built quality is amongst the best.I managed to get hold of a used Filco Majestouch Convertible 2 keyboard. The interesting thing is that both keyboards (while using MX Browns) have a different feel. The second-hand keyboard has more stiff /scratchy keys, with a more prominent tactile bump. It's irking me and I can't unfeel the keys..
Contemplating of brush-lubing the switches while leaving it soldered. Did some research and appreciate some feedback:
- Tribosys™ 3203 would be preferred, is that correct? Only apply a thin film.
- I am planning to brush lube only the side stem rails, and potentially the lower side of the switch. For tactile switches, the upper side (where the metal leaf and legs are) should be avoided.
You can try xtremesolutions to try out the different switches. It boils down to personal experience and preference. Generally typists prefer a more tactile feel although that doesnt mean that they dont switch to linear too in the end.
If you're into lubing and hands-on experience, you can try exploring custom made keyboards and just buy parts from aliexpress. With the right parts, you can make a Filco-like keyboard or even better.
