It's decent for the size and wattage.
But a bit overpriced without discount.
I got a pair at $120.
At that price range it's pretty good.

I got it at around 120 too.

But even without discount its very decent for space constraint areas and the bass is actually quite good! Mids and highs are also surprisingly clear and distinct.

The bass can even be on par with cheap speakers with sub woofer, without the space footprint.

Too technical for an audiophile noob for me. Previously owned Altec Lansing MX5021, Corsair SP2500. Both were awesome and best speakers I have owned.

Am considering these few options:
1) Pair of Google nest audio ~ $270
2) Edifier R2000db ~ $260-$290
3) JBL 305p ~ $349

Only requirement is reasonable bass, fit into desk space, without subwoofer (hence 2.0).
Desk space only 1.1m by 0.6m.

Thanks for your advice in advance wwenze.

Hi all. Sorry to revive an old thread. But I've been considering the Creative T100. Wondering how much of a downgrade it will be from my old T3 which I recently sold.

Creative T100
Really a downgrade, the sound will be flat meaning good mids but weak bass.
If you want bookshelf speaker Edifier R1210DB will be better than the T100.
Or Logitech Z407 2.1 a decent performing 2.1 speaker.

Thanks for your suggestion. I was attracted by the compact size of the T100.

If you are looking at similar size, than JBL Quantum Duo will be much better option.
However it cost near $200.

Thanks again. Price is alright and will consider.

I found this youtube channel where the frequency response is compared between T100 and Edifier R1280T:

So theoretically shouldn't both speakers sound more or less the same, maybe with some treble, bass adjustment?

Compared with T3 the low end is non existent in the 2.0 speakers. Both the T100 and Edifier start at around 50Hz. On paper also I think the frequency response is around there:
avg-2-1.jpg

But the JBL specs say it starts at only 60Hz. So why is it the better speaker do you think?

The 4inch driver produces better bass than the 2.75" creative ones.

Err.. buying speaker is best to test than relying on graphs.
Testing using speaker using graph is to understand how well it can handle certain
frequency like low frequency but it does not reflect how it performs in real world.

See that there are users of T100 but I have stop supporting Creative speakers mainly
due to reliability issues which is why I am not buying another Creative speaker.
So many have come and go, started off with Inspire 2500 till T3, Gigaworks T20,
Gigaworks G500 etc.

Volume remote issues, one side no sound, no power etc.
Creative speaker sound great that is no doubt but handling low frequency is
not a strength.

Example the T20 the bass is very awkward like small knocks, if you compare with Edifier R1280DB.
The speaker is bigger than T20 and the bass is more natural than the T20.
T100 wise I no doubt the sound will be flat given the size and the only place you can test
is at Creative Jurong East.

Depend on your usage if gaming and movies best to go 2.1 like Logitech Z407.
2.1 speaker can produce low frequencies like rumble, earth quake etc. much
clearer than 2.0 speaker.

2.0 speaker is more for music and tonal accuracy so you have to decide based on your usage.
Edifier and Logitech speakers can be tested at Challenger.
Creative speaker wise most retailers do not carry them anymore except selected range
like the Katana.

If retailers like Challenger don't sell Creative speaker like they do in the past than that means
poor sales. However to test Creative speakers you can contact Creative book a appointment
and buy from their service center in Jurong East.
