Even for 4-5 stars hotel, I think less than $100 difference..
What's the diff?

Its more than $100 diff, its about $200 diff.

Sometimes you don't even know there are hidden cost or not e.g. ski suit not included (Hong Thai), Big Five not included etc. It could adds up to more.

Hi,
you are comparing between SA and 5stars?
I think the itineries are not totally the same also. So meaning the difference in price might not just be because of the different hotels.
Please correct me if I am wrong.. :D

Almost all my friends and even some from oversea did research all the local tour agents for tour to korea and guess who is the most value for money?? :D

Extra $400 to stay at 5 or 6 star hotel , go spa or even stay ski resort are not worthy... FOr 1.8K i would go Japan instead.. :D

Most of you should have book hotel before... they charge per room and most tour agencies are charging per pax.. :(

I think it is about $1498 without airport tax.
They are giving 6* hotels and spa package.
Too bad they do not have interest-free installment package.
Now considering SA tours instead..

i would rather save then pay then go in debt (installment).. i would rather dun go ;)

Has anyone went Free and Easy to Korea-Seoul before?

Is it recommended and is it cheaper than tour packages?

What are the budget hotels available?

Planning to go in late April 2007...

It is definitely more expensive to go free and easy but you have a lot of spare time to explore the country. Group tour package is a bit rush per itinery.

A rough price for a 8D6N group tour package
let say genting holiday $1098 + $260
Total per person = $1358 (include food, transport, airport transfer, major admission charges, ski equipment, local tour charges etc)

A rough price for a 8D6N free and easy Airfare and accomodation only
Airfare(Asiana) $650 + $260(tax) = $910
6 night twin sharing accomodation = ($150x6) /2 = $450
Total per person = $1360 (exclude food, transport, airport transfer, major admission charges, ski equipment, local tour charges etc)

Other expenses for free and easy (estimated price)
Food ($30 per day x 6days)= $180
Airport transfer (2 ways) = $50
Transport for 6 days= $60
Admission charges = $50
Ski equipment = $30
local tour = $100 (to famous places like Mt sorak, shopping etc)
Internal flight to Jeju = $100

Total = $570 for other expenses (estimate price)

Conclusion
For the above example, the price for Free and easy(airfare and accomodation only) already about the same price as the group tour package.

But the tour package include other expenses such transport, airport transfer, major admission charges, ski equipment, local tour charges and cover 80-90% food etc which can easily worth around $570

Thanks, how long would it take for me to tour all the places of interest in Seoul?

I know Seoul is almost as huge as Singapore, but why is their subway system so much more complicated then ours?

Does anyone how long it takes to travel from one station to another?

call up the tour agency, they say there is only 1 case of bird flu, they say it will not affect the tour as all they meals are pork. Hope that is true.

Will monitor a while before i book.

Hi, I would also like to know if

1) Is it cheaper if I were to book my flight+hotel online or is it better if I book a free and easy package with a tour agency? Any tour agencies that offer free and easy travel to seoul in May 2007 to recommend?

2) Does anyone know of any sites that offer the best ticket deals?

3) Does anyone knows how much does a set of Hambok cost in Korea?

Thanks in advance!

I travelled with Genting 3 times to korea.
Tips to save money..

The winter wear is not required..u can use ur own winter wear. Renting isn't cheap and in my humble opinion it's low quality stuff. The only down side is that u may get ur winter wear wet after that.

The tips is expensive. Can choose to pay in USD or SING

Also, Genting Hotel at Seoul near Dongdaemum. Can walk there. No point wasting money on cab. Must bargain at Dongdaemum and beware of sellers selling fake goods at original goods price.

Big 5 tix..cant really remember, there will be enough time to take the rides. But if u are a youngster like me, everland is not as great as lotte world. So reserve ur enthusiam and money for lotte world.

Snow wise..depends on ur luck. i went 3 times and 3 times almost snow everyday.

If possible bring a video cam..brilliant view at the cable car place...cant remember the place name

Genting is generally cheaper than others because of the cheap hotels they use. But it doesnt matter coz u probably wont sleep much...especially when u are shopping at dongdaemum..that place opens until 4 to 5am..it nv sleeps

Winter wear..no need johns also can..it's not really that cold for the body. MOst impt thing is GLOVES. It will be cold for ur hands and face only. Travel light. 1 pair of jeans is enuff.
