does Shukey still go sole replacements for Red Wing?

I have beaten up 1907 and beckman black cherry i haven't worn for like 2 years, sitting in the shoe rack. the beckman soles disintegrated and completely gone. i am seriously giving it a second thought whether i will have them re-soled or just throw them away. I asked shukey tampines and i was quoted 140-150 each.. that is excluding restoration of the leather which is already worn up and moldy which will cost probably at least 30 to 50 each which will end up way past halfway to the price of a new one.. or top up some extra and get a new one instead...

Beckman has a GYW leather sole. Shukey cant do a proper GYW resole.

You might want to get a proper quote from here:

I had seen quite a lot of Beckman GYW leather sole cracks or disintegrate. It seems like the Vibram soles are much better...

yes.. when i started seeing shards of bitumen-like chunks that stains the floor when stepped on, i was quick to dismiss who went in to the house without dusting their shoes off.. then i realized it was the beckman's soles..

i stopped using them when one time i alighted off the MRT then suddenly i stepped on a seemingly hole in the floor, it felt like probably the tile came off where i stepped, then it became evident that the right foot goes down the floor lower than the left so i looked down... bam! i realized, the sole came off and I saw it behind me got kicked by other passengers alighting.. i was lucky no one noticed it.. otherwise i will hear someone shouting, hey mister! i think you left a part of your foot! i put them into storage since then, never saw any care nor maintenance for over 2 years...

wolf, don't throw away your beckmans. Go to the red wing shop and resole. the resole is worth it.

I already sent to Mister Minit for vibram re-sole and full recraft.. Should be able to collect on Thursday.

Share pics after collection if you can, of the inner sole. I suspect Mister Mint will sew through the inner sole to the outer sole.

I collected this afternoon and returned it upon first touch.. Lol.. The sole is uneven, even the grinding isnt consistent, not straight down.. And my black cherry somehow become a shade of brown like dog puke.

Any review on the workmanship of the red wing shoe store?

Thinking of getting vibram mini lug sole for my trusty 875.

If I were to resole at red wing, I'm better off buying a new pair and a day or two of 12000 steps to hell. 150 is the most I can gamble to local cobblers whether they are up to the competition or not. Anyway, if it didn't cut it, I can still use the shoes on site and thrash it like crap. The way I see fit.. I should have brought it back to Marikina (Philippines) which I should have a higher confidence of picking a better cobbler.

Can we have a telegram group or something? Hahaha

I didn't intend to do original resole. I hated it.
I went for vibram sole which I always wanted for a Redwing sole. But mister minit might have been sleepy while cutting/grinding the soles..
