Never update your MIUI version too fast and furious, best to stay at the factory default version if possible. Usually the factory default version have the least bugs from my personal experience.

Go for redmi note 10s.. during sales 8/256 goes for less than $200
Thanks funkypt for the advice. Saw yesterday on Shopee Redmi Note 10S (8+128GB) going for $199/- if I remember correctly... Didn't know there was a 8/256 GB version available but will keep a lookout for it.
Saw some comments to avoid this model due to its MTK chipset but to go for SD chipset instead. Was wondering if for senior usage (mainly watch YT videos, WhatsApp and MeWatch App), is MTK good enough?

Redmi 10C has a bigger screen but lower resolution, if require larger screen then can go for that one. Other than that, Redmi Note 10S is the far superior phone.

Thanks carboy00 for advice. Watch YT comparison between the 02 models and the clear winner was also Note 10S, unless need a bigger screen size, then 10C is the winner.
Redmi 10C runs on SD 680 chipset - better than Note 10S's MTK chipset? But this is only important for heavy gaming usages right?

Sorry my bad . It's 8/128

I've been using the phone for months, no overheat, smooth for apps and videos.

Hi all, am considering between Redmi Note 10s Vs Redmi 10C to get for senior citizen's daily usage. Which model is more suitable? Thanks for all advices and comments.
Can also consider poco m5 or m5s, newer models, so launched with android 12
$189 and $209 during promo
Also have nfc if that is needed

any way to disable the OTA update available message? To prevent accidental updating?

Go to Authorization and revocation menu and revoke Updater permission.

This way it will block OTA update by blocking the Updater App from checking for the latest update.

all over reddit I see people complaining of their 10s working fine on miui 12 and after updating to miui 13 freezing and crashing. anyone here experience it?

Read HWZ Forum Rules!
Only tip I learn is to set it to 60Hz refresh rate instead of 120Hz to prevent it from running hot. I don't use it to play game though.

And for the last two month I using it, freezes once. I just reboot. I upgrade to miui 13 from 12.5 when I started using the phone. I did it because I read that it will actually get rid of some of the bugs of miui 12.5
