Maybe price will drop next month to $250+ for local sets.
Fat hope when China n India selling near that price , Sg is tier 3 markets ie less volume but high markup

That’s why no note 7 pro as after markup won’t be competitive
$300 is my line. Above that, I should be considering Poco or mi8 lite le. Just need something to replace my dying RMN4...

How about a Note 5 Pro? I recently bought 1 for $186.

Thought there was an earlier post saying Xiaomi is not going to allow flashing of global ROM on China sets anymore?

Basically they saying that now they are selling the china phones with locked bootloaders, which prevents retailers from quickly flashing global roms into their China phones before selling and marketing as Global phones.

The workaround is just to unlock the bootloader (which is that 360 hours wait) and then you can flash whatever global / custom rom you want.... just don't lock the bootloader again cos that will brick it.

Iirc, last time is you can simply download the rom file, put it in your phone folder and go to the updater in phone, select the update and that's it. Now if you try that, the phone will keep rebooting when it detects the region is incorrect.

If you were going to root your phone, ya you need the bootloader unlocked. Or if you gonna flash custom rom.
This is step is now need to to flash even the original global rom.

i don't recall relocking bootloader will brick the phone.
i thought the MiFlashTool does come with the clean flash + relock bootloader option for you to "officially" relock it back if you want to.

Nonetheless, all my xiaomi phones / tablets are unlocked and flashed custom aosp roms. Never the need to relock it back.

The Redmi Note 7 is just waiting for it's turn to go on custom.

If 4GB ram and they sell at $329 is really ripoff.

Mi8 lite 6/128gb local sets are selling only $370 at redwhite.

FYI, till the end of the month, Mi official shops are selling Mi 8 Lite 6GB/128GB at S$369 as the IT Show and School Holiday promotion.

Mi A2 6GB/128GB is at S$349 and Mi A2 Lite 4GB/64GB is at S$249, if you like Google's original flavor Android.

Between Mi8 lite and N7

N7 has 3.5mm jack, better rear and front camera (?), larger battery
Less storage and ram
Price cheaper

I don't think think anything wrong with the pricing.

Is it a good buy for Mi 8 Lite 6GB/128GB @$369?

I think RM Note 7 is a better buy.

at about half the price of Mi8Lite
same chip SD660
better camera
better batt life
better design
larger screen

unless u really want that global rom + local warranty.

Thanks.

I was actually quoting the previous guy saying you could get Mi 8 Lite at S$370 as a promotion and I was trying to say no need to go to the small shops for that promotion now that official shops got the S$369 price already.

On the other hand, IMHO Mi brand is still better than Redmi brand so I do think Mi 8 Lite is a better buy if Redmi Note 7 would cost S$329 on the same basis — global ROM and local warranty.

Our Mi Max 1 is still working well now.

I am curious too. But I think among the 3, Pocophone F1 is abit unfair stronger than the other two le. Pricing also higher liao mah.
