the current one... tired the old one years ago and it is very imbalance to me

bcoz the old one that stereo has, sounded very wrong when compared to mine.

the old one still sounds better than the current one.

I just heard the LSX5 at Null... but somehow not really that impressed. Sure, it's coherent, smooth and a touch sibilant but somehow it lacked the wow factor that the Merlin had.

so the current demo in stereo ion is the old or new merlin?

okok, old merlin @ Stereo back in 2011/2012 sounded damn wrong. so i think the demo Merlin itself got problems. My Merlin was pretty much the beta tuning, b4 the actual official launch of Merlin; the newer tuning after the "miracle"-like sounding Merlin, which was the alpha tuning.

the 2013 demo Merlin sounded different from my Merlin (i have double confirmed on this)... esp on the bass portion. i think it was attributed to the difference dynamic driver size and tuning of it.

o_O so your merlin is the one that is not so sub bass empathsize and the one that reviewed by a headfier project86 version http://www.head-fi.org/t/566965/rev...n-hybrid-dynamic-balanced-armature-custom-iem?
from my experience with the new merlin at stereo is that the mids are pretty warm and thick which i like and it is more smooth to listen then ls5 which has a hint of sibilance and upper mids focus

correct, u know project86 had a 2nd Merlin after the 1st miracle-like sound? yes, that tuning.

it goes into sub bass very nicely. in fact very very deep and nice. by far i think for a CIEM, it has the most natural deep bass i can find. sometimes it has a little more quantity than BA, depending on tracks, but overall, it was right where i wanted my bass to be.

hmm that seems to be something i like from bass, good sub bass and mid bass during bass heavy song and light or unenhance bass on acoustic or female vocal songs,

i think i am more of a mid + bass person, which my um mage failed to impress me with :(, my es3x even have better bass reponse and kinda in my head mids like um3x and lesser shiny treble then mage

In the end, whecked an order for both Ls4 and Ls6
should be enough to last me awhile :D

Btw LS4's mid range is outstanding amongs the entire rooth line up
as comparable to fitear 334's mids
