Hi guys, inside the play store, when you press to install the app you want, it will comes to the permission with accept & download screen with the list of... allows apps to modify and access phone features or to read sms stored on our phone, view contacts / profiles etc...?

Anyone can explain why and is it safe to download the apps?

thnx and merry christmas.

theoretically not safe unless u know the app well.
that's why u should always check the permissions requested by the app b4 u download to prevent installing malware.

Remove voicemail icon permanently

Anyone know how to remove the New Voicemail icon on the top left hand corner of the screen? I can disable it temporarily by going into Phone app, and selecting Clear Data, but if I restart the phone, the icon comes back.

I'm on Starhub btw, my gf's Note 2 on M1 doesnt seem to have this issue

Thx

maybe you need to disable the voicemail from your service provider to prevent constant notification?

I keep losing my 3G connectivity. most of the time on 2G.

normal?

Which telco are you using? Which location is it? Were you on the phone constantly?

So many factors affecting 4G connectivity. I think you need to be very specific.. :s13:

Is it normal that when switching between 4g and 2g/3g, the signal will drop for a while? Very irritating that in an area with weak 4g, the signal keep on dropping due to switching between networks.

Yup, networking all works the same. Device will attempt to look for the best signal for the prioritized network. If it is weak or congested, it will drop slightly then attempt to lock to the next nearest available bandwidth of network.

Imaging going into a lift with no network, the lift door closes and the network drops. The lift door opens, network will slowly pick up. And repeat this process.

Try resetting the phone if all else fails to determine.

Also, backup before any resetting as the process cannot be reversed.

I need the voicemail function. Strange that it shows me 200+ new messages, but when I call up 1603 to access my voicemail, there are no messages inside. Already asked Starhub to reset my voicemail, but doesn't seem to work.

Only temporary fix is to clear data in the phone app, but the icon still appears if I restart the phone...

But switching between 2g and 3g, there is no drop in connectivity? is it because 2g and 3g use the same bands and 4g is on a different one altogether?

Actually there will be a drop when signal changes for all electronic devices that has a network feature. It all depends on how fast the device locks on to the next available network, and how responsive is the network. Nowadays, it should be way faster than when 3G was just rolled out as the swap from 2G to 3G and vice versa can be seen with the eye with a slight drop in signal then a fast recovery.
