Why the difference between Citi Prestige and Citi Rewards?

Tried with to pay a large bill of >$2000 at Harvey Norman with Samsung Pay using my Citi rewards card, it was rejected. Only up to $500 was allowed. I used Samsung Pay with my Citi Prestige card for the large sum and it was accepted. I called Citibank and they said it was not an issue with the card. Whose issue is it?

Lol, sometimes very hard to pin point the problem, since when you call Citibank, they will point finger at Samsung Pay, and you call Samsung Pay, it will be the opposite. Might be rewards card issue.

The maximum amount for Citirewards with Samsung Pay MST is $3,000. Were you using the magnetic stripe or the NFC function?

I was using the MST. Tried $600 and was declined. So I did multiple $500 transactions. Harvey Norman staff helpful. :)
I had the same issue with payment of $1,447 and $1,730 at 2 different merchants when I still had Samsung Pay last month. It never crossed my mind to reduce the amount as the merchants were getting frustrated after a couple of attempts; probably thinking I can't afford to pay. :s13:

I think the maximum I have ever paid successfully on Samsung Pay was $568.

I had paid close to the limit of $3,000 both locally and overseas without problems. It could be the merchant specific though.

I tried it on a Citibank terminal today for $1400 and it failed. I then broke up into 2 txns of $700 each and it worked. Mind you, this was a citibank terminal, not some other banks terminal.

Yup. Got 10x for most of my txns in europe except for 2 txns at airport. Tried samsung pay in japan but their terminals didn't react. 😕
