Wah really ah, how come like that one though. Because technically you have the same ballot chances right? Or is it the public scheme is like the leftover then ballot that's why lousier number?

It’s down to luck. So for example, there are 100 available flats. 95% (95 Flats) allocated to 1st timers. Of these 95 flats, 50% (50 Flats) allocated to Family with child or expecting child and are also 1st timers. 30% (30 Flats) allocated to staying near parents and are also 1st timer. 15% (15 Flats) allocated to 1st timers with no priority. Last 5 flats are allocated to 2nd timers. So the balloting will firstly ballot those with child category. If there’s 10 people in that category, means this 10 will confirm get a flat, not necessary 1-10 number. This category people ballot against each other in this category. The remaining 40 empty slots will go join the 15 slots for 1st timers only. Second ballot will be for the near parents. This category people also compete among themselves. If there’s again only 10 in that category, means these 10 also confirm will get a flat. Remaining 20 empty slots join the 1st timer only slots. So first timer only slots now have 75 flats. All remaining 1st timers ballot for 75 flats. If there was 40 live near parents category, then 30 confirm get flat, the remaining 10 gets another ballot chance in this 1st timer only ballot. 2nd timers will compete among themselves for the 5 flats. So once they got 100 people already, these 100 will be drawn again to see who goes first and so on.

This is how I understand it to work based on their HDB info scattered all over the site. As usual, never organised.

i got one fren took bukit batok 2nd floor after appeal. now regretted. wanna sell after 5 years.

but he did not consider the fact that he wasted his first timer chance on this 2nd floor unit which he is not too keen in. then his 2nd floor unit hard to sell to others.

Lowest is 4th floor... I think still not as bad as 2nd floor unit la...

Yes. To add on - So even if you're in top Priority e.g. married with child + register to live with parents, u can be within max number but still get a lousy number e.g. 99/100.

And if there's many applicants with priority scheme, u might not even get a number too.

So it’s a double edged sword! Might get you a number within the available flats, but if you get the last of the numbers, and you don’t want low floors or facing whatever direction or your feng shui master says cannot, high chance will be your 1st rejection.

Wow this message is 100% more helpful than anything on the HDB sites. Their site is so messy and I can't even find out if it's 6 weeks or 6.5 weeks for SBF results haha. Oh well so no matter what scheme you apply for, it's always down to luck and everyone has to tip their Lady Luck a lot. Guess that works hahaha.

Still super anxious about the results though! Especially for SBF because of the low amount of units... Wondering if they'll add these leftovers from this SBF into ROF in August?

I got friends living in the estate which I applied for and noticed that his neighbors are mostly as mentioned above.

Called up HDB to probe about this and their typical response is as long as they are holding pink IC they are consider citizens.

The results for both May and Nov 2018 was released on a Friday around 4pm via email.

Well, i got rejected 5 times and denied once with a queue number due to racial quota being filled before appointment...

All sorts of mental torture i have endured before...

Cannot apply from the same exercise. So for example the May 2019 exercise that just passed, you choose either BTO or SBF, and not both. If you apply both, they will count the 2nd application and auto cancel the first application.

All our numbers were out of queue, 2 applications with no number at all. We were under the MCPS scheme for 5 out of 8 instances.

But to be fair, our backsides are super itchy la, we always applied for matured estates The locations we applied for are all near our parents, if not, at least a very accessible location as we do not have a car, and don't intend to have one.

From Nov 2015 till now We're still relatively "young" (I'm 27 and my bf is 30), so it's not an urgent need for housing, just that it's delaying our marriage plans.

Haha but from the ratio, actually mature and non-mature no much difference. Still a lot of people fighting for it (e.g. Tengah). I also applied for mature near my parents-in-law because we didn't want to have a car and would like to be able to help them out should they need anything.

Aiya... There was never "original Singaporeans". We are always made up of new citizens all over the world isn't it? If you ask around, you'll realise your friend's grandma from China, his father from Malaysia, her mother from Indonesia, his grandpa from India, her husband from America.

I think me and my partner are truly Singaporeans but our parents came here from other South East Asian countries. So I feel sad when I see people discriminate "new citizens". Because we were all once new. After a few years, have a few children then will become "old citizens" ma. Must give chance.. heheh.
