Last month I spent 678.00
Due to some credit/cashback, the balance is 598.00
The cashback this month is 47.46

Does it mean cashback bases on balance, not on spending?

7% cashback based on your spending amount $678, is $47.46 (which is correct, no?)

"The CashBack awarded under this Promotion must be utilised within six (6) months from the date of card activation, failing which, any unused portion of the CashBack may be forfeited." sauce

Anyone know which other cc gives immediate cashback credits like scb? :s11:

Its not immediate. Its credited in the next statement.

Immediate cashback rebate will be cimb cards for the base rebate. Additional rebate will be credited in the next statement.

Just got my 1st statement from SCB for this card. noticed that the 7% cash back earned is for the next statement also, not deducted directly from current. I thought i saw someone posted before SCB cashback always the same month. lol

Yup. Its always the next statement.

Say ur statement date is 27th apr and the cashback earned for next statement is $10. The $10 cashback will usually be credited on 28th or 29th apr.

Maybe this is what they meant by "immediate".

yes although system will show you that the 7% rebate is reflected for the next statement, you can factor that into your current outstanding (was advised this by CSO over the phone) since the rebate has been posted to your card

but I still prefer to just pay the amount due as reflected (to avoid confusion)

Nice piece of information here. Thanks mate! I'll probably offset it since next month not buying anything big yet.

Thanks to the rest for input too!

This may be true for standchart but not for all banks...

I am the one who made this statement, pun not intended ;)

This is what I meant.

For my case, in month 1, I spent enough eg $xyz to qualify for the 7 % rebate.
At the beginning of month 2, I got a statement to pay $xyz on say the 3rd week of month 2 ( BTW on GIRO).
In the 2nd week of month 2, I received the 7% rebate in my SCB CC account.
SCB only collected the net amount (of $xyz less 7%) during week 3.
So this is how I received the 7% rebate in the same month. By " same", I meant the same payment month.

Not all banks will post cash rebates on "outstanding statement/unbilled transactions". As long as cash rebates are posted and you can see it online (for the other banks)- eg Ocbc, stanchart, I just offset and pay net amount. Usually the outstanding balance shown online will also reflect the net amount due (which will defer from the posted statement)

So cash rebates can be offset. Done that for years and no issue. Banks like BOC will not post the rebates online so have to separately use the rebates for following month.

For my case, while OCBC posts rebate online, the rebate is not in time to offset current month's statement, so have to be utilised against next month's statement.

So in essence, OCBC not the same as SCB (current month offset) but similar to BOC (following month offset).
