The portrait mode is not very good, and cannot zoom. I hardly use it.Have you tried using portrait mode. There seems to be a delay in processing after you click the shutter.
I quite like the photos from the R9 pro. I am not a camera or picture expert but what I like about the photos is that they all seems very natural.Magnetic adapter with a variable ND filter.
Vignetting using ultra wide lens.

No vignetting at the wide and telephoto lens.

Sharp is no longer that Sharp where it used to be especially in mobile phone industry. With Samsung and Apple dominating the market shares and strong competitions between the Chinese brands, if they don't do something about their pricing, they will soon fall again.Because it is Sharp... If it's Samsung or iphone will be a different story![]()
Precisely. I saw r9 reduce pricing to 699 liao. I feel that is still acceptable compared to the initial pricing of 999/1099......Sharp is no longer that Sharp where it used to be especially in mobile phone industry. I do agree the price for R9 pro is a bit high...but well, if you like it, you will buy it despite the high price. Just like what I did when I bought it 2 weeks ago
Taiwan will be launching the R9 pro on 9-Jan-2025 (pre-order starts today).
https://tw.sharp/news/2024-12-25
The R9 pro selling price in Taiwan is tagged at NT39,900 (approx. SGD1,670).
In Japan, sim-free R9 pro is 194,700yen (approx. SGD1,700) & Docomo version is 211,970yen (approx. SGD1,880).
Looking at both Taiwan and Japan, the price of R9 pro in Singapore (launch promo SGD1,319 / RRP SGD1,499) is still cheaper than Taiwan and Japan.
Only difference is the Leica branding logo on both Taiwan & Japan version, which the Singapore version is without.

Just that i feel if they priced it cheaper, will entice now ppl to buy. This pricing people will go with samsung and iphone any time especially for non tech savvy customers which is a bigger group compared to tech savvy people like us
Does the R9 pro sold in sg have the leica colour science as those in tw n jp, but just without the leica logo?I do agree the price for R9 pro is a bit high...but well, if you like it, you will buy it despite the high price. Just like what I did when I bought it 2 weeks ago

Should be the same. I think Leica filters are reserved for Leica own phone model which should be the Leica phone 4 which is unannounced yet.Does the R9 pro sold in sg have the leica colour science as those in tw n jp, but just without the leica logo?
They just made a comeback to the smartphone industry and this industry has become very competitive. If they don't put the prices right, people won't even noticed they are back to the market. Around 85% of the smartphone users aren't tech savvy and they won't even bother to check out the phone if they aren't even aware of the brand(s).I do agree the price for R9 pro is a bit high...but well, if you like it, you will buy it despite the high price. If Sharp (mobile phone) goes down again, I think it will be almost impossible to make another comeback ever again. It will be such a waste by then.
What's most important for them is to build up their brand awareness. They need to let people know they are back to the market. Besides commercials/ads both online and offline, the best thing will be its prices and partnership with local telcos/stores.I fully agree that majority of mobile phone users are not tech savvy. They just follow the mobile market trend...Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc.
Btw, Sharp has been in the mobile industry all the while, just that they only concentrate their mobile business in the Japan market. Only until recently, they started to launch it in selective countries outside of Japan (Taiwan, Singapore and Indonesia).
I had been using their domestic Japan clamshell "feature phones" almost 20 years ago (yr 2005 if I can remember correctly) until my previous Aquos R6, before I switched to the current R9 pro.
These are the Sharp phones I used.
Vodafone 703SHf
Vodafone 903SH
Vodafone 904SH (using "hyper-sim" on a normal sim)
Docomo SH-12C
Softbank 102SHii
Docomo Aquos Zeta SH-01G
Y!mobile Aquos Crystal Y 402SH
Docomo Aquos R6
Sharp R9 pro (my current phone)
All I can say is....Sharp makes great phones.
