[SIC] Really good Ryzen mini PC

Almost deciding to move ahead with below parts for itx

AMD Ryzen 5600g
Asrock B550m ITX/A
Corsair vengeance 8gb 3200mhz rams x2
WD SN750 500gb nvme gen 3 ssd
All from Amazon US/SG

hope this built is decent and good enough to last for 5 yrs with minimal or light gaming

just not sure if the b550 mobo from Amazon can use Ryzen 5600g straight out of the box or need to flash the bios to latest but I have no previous gen chips to flash the bios

If you are worried about compatibility, either you use tomorrow's 8:8 sale to buy a board locally or I think some newer boards allow you flash the board without a compatible CPU. So you need to keep a lookout for this feature.

Probably go for gigabyte which can flash bios with usb drive

3700x should be similar to 5700g in terms of vrm load, so 5600g should be a step lower and the asrock board should be able to handle with ease. also support for 5000 g series has been out on these boards since around march, so id say it should be safe to assume that boards u are getting now should already support them out of the box.

Gigabyte B550 ITX is quite a decent board in my opinion. It is feature rich for its price. Just that I think as usual, local pricing can be quite high. Especially when the boards are expected to be quite popular.

My experience is at the budget end, Asrock boards are cheap but poorly built. If you avoid the cheap budget boards, I think they are alright.

I was also considering the a520i aorus itx which is cheaper but missing usb C port which I think will be more used in the future.
Although can get a usb c hub but I never like usb hubs

You can't make judgement based on your one bad experience with Asrock.
I have used Asrock motherboard in my past builds, never had a single problem. But I have both Gigabyte and MSI died on me once due to bloated caps.
But I don't think they are that bad. I still buy MSI motherboard.

I generally feel that MSI boards tend to be overpriced locally. Like the last time I got the B550M Mortar, parallel import are like 100+ bucks cheaper. I believe Corbell was retailing it for like 309 or 329 bucks, while I got it for 209 bucks. Impression wise, I think Gigabyte tend to be more feature rich.

I've been using mine for more than 3 months, and I think it is a decent machine. However I believe there are complains about poor quality and early failure with it. So while it is quite affordable, I am not sure if you should get it because of very limited warranty coverage here.
