Lolol i guess those who order later get best specs. At least ddr4 ram not ex. u can buy another 4GB for $15.
Last night I threw in my Transcend 256gb SSD and reinstalled Windows 10. Performed better than the SSD that came with the mini pc. I reinstalled because I can see that the mini pc was 'used'. Saw an extra folder in C drive and a file that is looked more like someone was using the pc. Ordered 4gb x 2 ram this morning (preferred same ram). That is about all that I want to do with this mini pc. Surprised it has a well working type c port. Good deal for the price we paid.

Which model did you choose?

I chose the US version because I saw 16GB. Lol

I choose eu plug. The seller reply "dear, what u buy is 16GB+512GB,eu plug, US is 110V,EU UK AU is 220V" I think should be legit. I think u can quickly chat with the seller to change to EU otherwise you need to buy transform or power adapter liao

Same as maibenben but metal casing

Gaming wise 24 fps on low 1080p. The Vega 3 gpu is about 40% the performance of vega 8 which can hit 60fps on low. Cooling wise is good. didnt exceed 70 deg maybe due to metal case. maibenben plastic case gets so hot until 80 deg when gaming

I think it is not a good comparison. The Maibenben mini PC comes with a higher end APU, so it will run very hot. I've tried reapplying the thermal compound with some success in preventing the system from hitting 90+ degrees under CPU intensive load. Athlon is like a Ryzen 3, but run at a lower clock speed. So naturally the heat output is going to be lower.

if i am not wrong, usually both EU and US plug also can use because of power adapter provided

Seem to be compatible to both voltage, probably just need a universal adapter for the US 2 pin plug

I just bought Asus PN51 barebones and looking for cheap and good? 3200MHZ 2x8GB DDR4 RAM . I checked internet and it seem like PN51 are not compatible with some RAM as users report BIOS don't have XMP profiles.

Any recommendations? I am not into overclocking.

Not bad. upgradable memory slots, m2 wifi, m2 nvme and m2 sata slot. 19v barrel to usb c pd works

Lazada is having a promotion for Chuwi Herobox mini pc about $200 depending on discount voucher. It is an Intel cpu but who cares. Cheap can already.

I got the similarly configured Chuwei HeroBox Pro before the 11.11 offer from Shopee at S$269...

It seems to be very slow running the stock Windows 10 (20H2 installed), at least for Windows updates. I just got it setup today and now still waiting for the second restart to finish after 45 minutes. I have three much faster laptop so this is kind of unbearable. Normal operation is pretty okay though. [edit to add: subsequent upgrade are a bit faster but still takes quite some time, I have not yet tried the 21H1 upgrade -- maybe wait for the 21H2 upgrade which will be soon released.]

Anyway my intention is not to run Windows but Linux, so I should be fine. I have another J4105 mini PC running Ubuntu Linux (acting as a home server) pretty well. Previously the J4105 was running pfSense as it has 4 LAN ports. After I set up the HeroBox Pro to run Ubuntu Linux, I may want to use back the J4105 as the pfSense router again.

I tend to think Ryzen mini PC will be more suitable to run Windows.

Edit to add: Just installed Ubuntu 20.04 along side Windows 10. Ubuntu 20.04 is very smooth. Only thing missing seems to be the wireless support (not yet try to debugging) but I am using wired (Power line to be exact, around 200Mbps) in this case so it is not a real problem.

Edit to add: after reboot, the OS is able to find the wireless card.
