If you are really concerned about the performance of the CPU (that comes with the mini pc) and desire something faster, then I will recommend that you consider building your mini pc using Asrock Deskmini X300 or A300 (depending on which model is available). X300 is the newer model of A300 and both are for AMD CPU. I used A300 for almost two years. The Intel model is H470.

This machine allows you to choose which CPU you want to install. The motherboard in this machine allows you to install 2 NVME SSD and 2 2.5inch SATA SSD (or HDD). I think that will give you the added flexibility of putting the more important stuff inside your mini pc while keeping the less important stuff on external HDD enclosure. You can also choose how much ram you want in your machine.

What I don't like about this machine is DUST. It has a CPU Cooler and opening in the casing to allow air to go into the machine. Over time it collect alot of dust in the small casing. I prefer a passively cooled CPU which gather much less dust and hence I opt for a lower powered CPU machine. I owned 4 mini pc to date. Deskmini is the only mini pc that I have to take out and remove dust twice a year.

different generation. intel use the word celeron and pentium until now is it outdated?

Athlon based on ryzen is faster than 8th gen intel, and faster than celeron and pentium crap found in mini pc

You just need 4 usb 3 ports and run snapraid software

Individually the drives can run 160MBps but when all in use, the limit is about 400MBps

Oooo... I don't need RAID... each of my HDD is used to back up different things... so they need to remain as separate individual drives...

I generally uses my mini pc for about 2 years. Change because I was attracted to the newer model available in the market rather than the machine itself breaking.

First one threw away as it was already outdated when I first bought it. Second gave away. Third one (deskmini a300) in my drawer currently as the USB port kaput. Still can use. Current one just arrived last week. Bought the current one because I am hoping to be able to RMA the deskmini as it is still under warranty.

Thanks. My core2dual g41 atx just broke down, hence venturing into the world of mini pc n hoping it doesn't die too soon... Thinking to Reuse my 320Gb 3.5 ide n 1 tb sata till they die.. Either by docking station or adhoc usb cable

I don't know if you can find a IDE to USB dock/ cable readily now. Even if you can find it brand ew, I don't think it will come cheap, and if your IDE drive fails at some point, that dock/cable will be wasted. So you should consider if it is cost effective to retain the IDE drive.

I've checked. A ide/sata dock is about 35. A ide/sata 3.0cable that I can reuse for my dvd writer is 25..i have a ide only usb2 cable which works... I used it to transfer my data to the corebox... Just thinking more of if I Want to retain the hard drive for extra I dunnu what

8259u is old. return your product if you can. $500+ for quad core intel that cannot even play games is not worth it. you could get asus pn51 with 6 core amd ryzen 5500u with 3 years local warranty. for less than 600 before discount

5500u is 7nm, 8259u is 14nm. ryzen runs cooler, uses half the power but is 60% faster. the intel is a dinosaur

if you havent receive you can reject delivery when they deliver

I paid 400 during 11/11 sale after the discounts. (missed the earlier sale that you guys got a great deal)
16gb (soldered, disappointing to me) ram n they delivered 512gb ssd instead of the advertised 256Gb.
I know 8259 is older.. But at 400 , (I don't game, will be using it to sort out my photos n entertainment) I thought to give it a try n can at least salvage parts (b4 I know ram was soldered). I was actually thinking of the $170 tbox laptop(my criteria is 8Gb ram n 256 hhd) but uncertain n took this instead.
