mine's a levels :/ anyway, what are the things that are graded?

and are classes fixed?
Ah.. then you might
not be able to waive off as many modules as your poly counterparts. Almost everything that the professors give will be graded, including homework. This allows you to capitalize on some marks early so you don't have to worry too much about the finals
Thanks for taking time to reply all our queries, I really appreciate it.
I do have more questions to trouble you with unfortunately.
1)Do mods like Gen Education and Electives get waived off? They look unnecessary (are those mods what you classify under lower level mods?) or are they compulsory?
2)If you managed to waive the mods and have your fees to around 40k, what's the rough average of fees for a standard poly student? Taking into account generally decent grades. (I'm persuading my friend a Sp comms student to join me at biz admin but he is quite skeptical over the fees)
3)Is the summer abroad prog different from the UB NY exchange? Like can you do both?
4)Are there any intern opportunities during the UB course?
5)What is the job prospect outlook for yourself as a graduating students /your seniors before you?
6)Have you heard of anyone heading to US to work after their UB degree?
7)Is joining the Student Union a good idea?
No problem!
1) like what patryn33 have said, general education are quite essential for american programmes and it will benefit you. Some can be waived off and for example i transferred credits from my polytechnic course to cover requirements for world civilization, american pluralism, social science, humanities and arts.
2) A SP comms student can get more waivers if he/she takes the Comms programme in UB as compared to biz admin. You can look at the modules you took in SP and roughly match with the biz admin modules. For example, i had introduction to macro and micro econs and introduction to computers & statistics waived because i've completed similar modules in SP. (I was from Banking and Finance - financial trading)
3) For the summer abroad programme, you can choose to take up a module and maybe internship in the UK. I can't remember if you can go to buffalo during summer, i've heard most only go there during fall/spring semester. Do both as in one during year 1 summer and the next year another? I think it is possible, but not commonly heard of haha.
4) That's the big difference between RMIT/UOL and UB; you don't get breaks to take up an internship when you are studying with UB. There are some exceptions, such as people taking Leave of Absence for a semester. So if internship is a big concern, you might want to reconsider UB.
5) Ah... IMO it really depends on how much you absorb and learn from your UB programme. Employers see all graduates as the same, despite coming from different universities. It all boils down to your substance, and if you spend the last three years building and preparing for your career, i'm sure your job prospects will be very high. I've seen seniors taking up jobs in many different industries even one taking up a civil servant role.
6) It's a pity i do not know anyone that went over to US to work after graduating. I would really like to know if this is an open opportunity or it will take alot of effort to do so haha
7) Purely seeking academic excellence is not sufficient in today's context, so i would really recommend taking up a CCA or joining the student union. But it is really up to your interest!
