how are the classes allocated?

is it like every module (we choose) one class? how often/many are the quizzes/projects/tests on average? i'm actually thinking of taking a double major in socio/pysch but afraid it'll be too heavy hahas. oh btw so there are lectures and tutorials?
It all depends on what's your previous education level (poly, A levels, O levels) and the type of modules you took before. Most poly graduates will have quite a number of module waivers! Most modules will have more than one lecture per week, especially during the summer semester (shorter than spring & fall). Hmmm on average i guess you can expect a number of quizzes(5-8?), maybe 1 or 2 projects and at most 3 tests (2 mid-term and 1 final). Well the lower level modules might be considered as lectures (too many students!) but mostly they are tutorial based
Hi silentknvght
I have a few questions about UB that I hope you could answer
1) What is the average timetable like?
2) Roughly how many credits does an average poly student get to waive off ? Did you manage to waive any credits, and how much was your total course fee for your duration of Biz Admin at UB?
3) During your specialization, what's the most sought after between the 3 choices?
4) Are there any opportunities for exchange for a sem or more over to the campus at NY?
5) What's your general overall feel about UB as a graduating student? Would you recommend it over RMIT and UOL based on your experiences / what your friends from those Uni have told you?
hey Reek! hmmm the average timetable depends on the number of modules you take. The class timing is fixed at 8:30am, 12pm and 3:30pm. Most of them are at most 2 hrs long (could go up till 3 hrs long for higher level modules!)
Did you take a business related course in poly? If so, you can get quite a number of modules waived off. UB will match the related modules with their lower level modules and allow the waiver, but some requiring at least a B grade for your previous modules. I'll say that i managed to bring the cost down to around $40k?
Hmmm i think not many people want to take financial analysis as their specialization! i've seen the bulk of my cohort go to marketing, and if you want to take lesser modules, you can try International Trade.
Yeah you can choose to complete a semester or two over at UB NY, but only if you have deep pockets :/ Still, i'll definitely recommend going over as there are countless benefits of having the experience of studying overseas. (International experience is what most employers look for)
As mentioned, I cannot give my word on which is better. Mix of projects & tests vs one final exam, American style of learning vs UK, it all depends on your learning style. The main thing about UOL i guess is it takes a lot of discipline to prepare for the entire year just for that final exam. I've always believe one should take a holistic approach towards learning, and UB offers a wide variety of modules to achieve that.
Hi

just graduated with a dip in accountancy from NP.
I am wondering whether I should choose RMIT accountancy
Or UB economics
Might wanna try economics+biz admin double degree
Do you have any friends who were studying econs degree? I really prefer the brand name of UB to RMIT but not sure if econs is a good choice..
Hi Eden! Well it really depends on where do you see yourself after you graduate; advancing your career in the accountancy field or are you still looking at alternatives, trying to get a feel of the other fields before making your decision. If its the former, look no further, and go ahead for RMIT accountancy and maybe even plan for ACCA. For the latter, you have to decide if Econs is your interest. Perhaps a more general approach would be better (Biz admin). The double degree would take longer and IMO only suitable if you don't mind taking more time to study. Erm, you shouldn't think about the brand name and which is better recognized. Instead, look at how either school can prepare you for the future. No point taking UB biz admin if you have already decided on accountancy. Way back when i was deciding on either UB biz admin or UOL banking & finance (I know i want to enter the financial services industry), i chose biz admin because i wanted to prepare myself for management roles and see that the modules there would best fit my intention.
I hope i've managed to answer all of your questions! Please don't be afraid to ask further
