I took both 101 and 102. It is a really fun mod with an awesome lecturer. Is is quite heavy as it is 3 times a week and you have homework every lessons. Total of 6 quizz IIRC and a final exam. It is not difficult as long as you put in effort to practise

Hey, just wondering if any of you could help and share your opinions? i'm planning to drop esl 407 as it is in the morning and it is almost impossible for me to reach on time esp since i get sick easily in the morning( i have a history of a certain sickness) and i live far away. and the afternoon esl class all clash with my other class so i have no choice but to drop. i've already missed 1 class and late twice and the attendance is so strict that if im absent 4 times i'll have to retake :( the prof too adv me to drop and take it next sem. will it be ok for me to only take 3 mods this sem? or will i be left behind? will it affect anything? are there people who take esl 407 in the 2nd sem? cause i do know some ppl taking only 3 mods.
sigh im worried and drop deadline is tmrw :(

2015 intake

Hi all,

I'm a Malaysian planning to apply to SIM GE for my undergraduate program next year, currently doing my diploma in communication.

Anyone here can advise on my application, regarding the documents to submit? I know that I have to submit my diploma results and transcript but do i have to submit my SPM results as well?

Also, since i took 1119 in SPM - which if im not wrong is equivalent to O levels English language results, do i still have to take IELTS?

Thanks in advance..

try to add a esl407 class in the afternoon.
Some mods in the future requires you to have taken 407 (esp com majors)
so you might want to reconsider dropping. Not a wise option.

Hey, it became much heavier for this sem, and the software that needed to be bought is about $200. My friends who are in their third year ended up dropping the module after hearing this lol, and it is definitely not as easy as compared to the previous years, but of course, the final decision is made by you.

As long as u never take 6 years education in primary school & 4 years education in secondary school in Singapore, u have to take IELTS/TOEFL/SAT. I did my 2 years primary school in sg & 4 years in secondary school, but they told me to take TOEFL/IELTS. I think u have to submit SPM results as well.

depends on how you look at it, but ya its like 1 year plus.

But, to have a bachelor degree, need minimum of 60 Credit, so in the end it's best to take 60 Credit (total is 120)

You would have to take a few compulsory mods (like English) But so far, this is my first sem here and i am pretty much liking the system here :o

Ill try dig stuffs from him

At the end of the day, it's your choice =D

What's the system like? Are there lectures + tutorials or just lectures etc?

My friends say he still in first sem so he cannot comment.

Our systems consists of lectures ( have consultation time allocated)
With tests, exams and projects (each weight a certain percentage including attendance and assignments)

We have to learn about other stuffs other than your own major

haha you still have a bit of time, slowly decide

I'm from a local polytechnic diploma and I am interested in knowing the rough estimate of fees after waivers, really interested in studying in UB but the school fees kinda scare me lol

Yo. One credit cost roughly 500. Amount of waiver is subjective to what you have studied in poly which is able to be waived here. Anyway I seen most poly grad able to waive off as much as 80 credit. But to eligible for bachelor, must have at least 60 credit. So you try divide the fees by half. Anyway this is just my 2 cents worth. The real waiver might be different

It is 3 years, but with waviers, you can finish it in maybe 2 years, or maybe even faster depending on how related your poly diploma is to your course. There are people taking double degree, but very few only as it is more costly.
