Asking those who signed for the 2 year contract under Simba BB,

Where did you collect the D-Link router and do you have to wait for a while or still waiting before you can collect it?

The simba free dpn-be7212gr is it good? Or should I get some others wifi7 router in similar range?

if not good, maybe I just do the 1yr contract rather than 2yrs. Currently using a wifi6 router which i like because its horizontal flat design rather than a stand up vertical type.

The HW spec is very bad. Personally I consider it to be the worst "10G capable" WiFi 7 router selling in Singapore market.

But you can always try it to see how you like it. I admit I may put too much emphasis on HW spec sometimes...

Just another perspective on SIMBA vs M1.

Personally I will recommend M1 3Gbps or 6Gbps plan over SIMBA 10Gbps.

BTW, M1 does not have the issue of CGNAT.

Effective pricing for new users -- you can see that SIMBA 10Gbps is not really that cheap.
https://www.m1.com.sg/home-broadband
https://simba.sg/broadband

M1 6Gbps at S$36.90 per month with free TP-Link Archer BE805 (worth at about S$300)
--> effective pricing for basic M1 6Gbps plan without router at S$24.40 per month.

M1 10Gbps at S$50.90 per month with two Asus ZenWiFi BT10 (worth >= S$600)
--> effective pricing for basic M1 10Gbps plan without router at S$25.90 per month.

SIMBA 10Gbps at S$29.99 per 30 days with free D-Link DPN-BE7212GR (worth at about S$179), S$61.04 NLT charge.
--> effective price for basic SIMBA 10Gbps plan without router at about S$25.08 per month.

D-Link DPN-BE7212GR is not as good as TP-Link HB710 (from Starhub) which is worth at about S$192.

HW means Home Wifi?

Is there any wifi 7 router not too expensive to recommend? Maybe I should go out and buy 1 rather than commit 2yrs to get the free set.

maybe some decent one not more than $250? possible?
my place is not too big...a standalone router is good enough, doesn't need mesh

TP-Link Archer BE805 dumped by M1 users, about S$300.

I bought one BNIB unit from an M1 user early this year -- powerful CPU, good wireless coverage. Latest 1.3 FW fixes the MLO issue. I think it is a very good 10G capable router for its price.

Hi guys I am trying to setup IPv6 on Simba 10Gbps home fibre using TP-Link omada er707-m2. I am trying to get a /61 PD (Based on what I saw on this forum) but I keep getting only a /64 PD.

This error shows up in the logs "Prefix Delegation Size incompatible with ISP: Dynamic IPv6 acquirement succeeded. (IPv6=<null>, Gateway=<null>, DNS=<null>.)". Im not sure why, does Simba not offer a /61 pd anymore? Anyone have any info?

I'm a ST user since more than 2 decades and have recontract over and over with them until final one on 1gbps contract.

I have been using the same ONT since the day I got it since early fibre days. For a couple of years have understood many Fibre providers have switch to ONR, making those power users with the most ex routers find it almost impossible to directly utilise their network directly with an ONR in between.

I've intend to try Simba due to their use of ONT but now they are only providing ONU. Not much info can be found of the model.

Still waiting for user feedbacks on this ONU as I want to use a 10gbps network for my homelab setup.

Please share your ONU setup/experience. Thanks.

Just wondering why you consider SIMBA? Why not M1 and Starhub?

Both M1 and Starhub use XGS-PON ONT (unless you choose the unpopular M1 10G ONR plan). Starhub has mostly got rid of the unpopular Starhub Nokia XGS-PON ONR unless you specifically looking to get the ONR.

Both M1 and Starhub have public IPv4 and not using CGNAT. SIMBA is using CGNAT and I tend to think power users will try to avoid CGNAT.

MR/VQ also uses CGNAT but they have static IPv4 add-on for those who need public IPv4 address. VQ also has static IPv6 upon request. So you can also consider them, but VQ stability may not be the best.

You may want to take a look at the sticky thread to see which plan you prefer.

So, my house is currently running Simba BB for the last 2 weeks. While general internet access is typically acceptable. We have 4 persons staying in my flat, assuming 2 devices per person, we are looking at about 6-8 devices + 1 tv, though not all accessing internet at the same time.

While general internet access is fine, I'm having issue with my IPTV app. When connected to 5G wifi, I'm frequently getting checking route error and SSL handshake timeout.. On 2.4G, sometime it's better, but during peak hour of 7pm-9pm, it's almost impossible to login to the app.

I don't have this issue on MR which I was using for the past 10 years, iirc.

Anyone has any advice that I still troubleshoot?

Hard to say, but can you switch that device to a wired connection to check whether the issues you're having might be specific to Wi-Fi?

Also, if the device is capable of a VPN connection, you could try that to see if you get any different results.
