Saw reply about M1 plan compared to Simba Plan. Not sure which better.

As for SIMBA free installation, does it include full installation (incl. router) and whats the process like?

As for M1 installation, is it free and whats the process like?

As for support/CSO for both, how reliable isit when I need help with service?

Will appreciate any help with this as im newbie :(:(:(:(:(

You may want to read the posts in the first page of the sticky thread and come to your own conclusion.

My personal opinion is that you should avoid SIMBA as you seem to expect quite some support from the ISP. M1 will be way better than SIMBA based on your description. You may want to ask further thread in M1 thread.

But need to pay NLT Service Activation Fee of S$61.04.

Indeed this is a major difference.

1) SIMBA 10Gbps plan without digital voice:
https://simba.sg/static/media/fbb/assets/cis-broadband-10gbps-720.pdf

1.3.2. SIMBA shall waive the one-time $61.04 for NetLink Trust (“NLT”) service activation
charge (where applicable); and one-time $118.00 charge for Optical Network Terminal
(“ONT).

2) SIMBA 10Gbps Broadband with Home Phone Line
https://simba.sg/static/media/fbb/assets/cis-home-broadband-720.pdf

1.3.2. $61.04 for NetLink Trust (“NLT”) service activation charge (where applicable);
1.3.3. SIMBA shall waive the one-time $20.00 home phone line activation charge;
1.3.4. SIMBA shall waive the one-time $198.00 charge for Optical Network Router;
1.3.5. SIMBA shall waive the home phone line charges, at $5.00 for 30-days service in
advance, for the period in which the Customer has paid for their SIMBA Fibre
Broadband billing cycle in advance.

Simba could be transiting to use ONR. So the term ONU is used to include both ONT and ONR.

oh no, if they change to ONR i think i will switch out

Interesting move that SIMBA is also adopting ONR. Hopefully it will offer both ONT and ONR (just like M1) to give the users choices.

Most power users will avoid ONR (Singtel and WC) since the ONR will be the main router for the home network and you will have some limitations to use your the router behind the ONR. But ONR may not be a bad thing for average users who want to save one router in the DB Box.

The router in the picture will need to be configured in AP mode (losing many features) in order to avoid Double NAT. If you use the router in router mode, then you will be in a situation called Double NAT.

I’m not power user la, but I have used a Nokia router mandated by Starhub before, and the experience is terrible. I can imagine if the ONR is the same quality.

From the pic it seems like a Huawei OptiXstar EN8250Ts-20 ONT, same as the one issued by m1 for their xgs-pon plan. How simba is able to configure all the 4 x Ge and 1 x 10Ge ports to work together probably will need those new subscribers to do some testing.

M1 is using Huawei OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20 ONT but take note that it can also be configured in ONR mode.

Let's wait for the new users who get the ONR to report back on the SIMBA XGS-PON ONR model.

Starhub is using Nokia XS-240X-A in ONT mode, but Singtel is using Nokia XS-240X-A as an ONR.

M1 is using Huawei HN8255X6s-8X ONR for the new 10Gbps ONR plan, that has the Wireless function built-in, similar to Starhub issued Nokia XS-2426X-A (WiFi 6 AX6000 rated). Take note I do not recommend this M1 ONR plan at all. M1 6Gbps plan (ONT with free Archer BE805) is better than the M1 10Gbps ONR plan (all-in-one ONR plus Archer BE230. Both are of the same S$36.90 per month pricing for new users now.

Can SIMBA Broadband customers who are currently in contract or recently signed up for a SIMBA Broadband plan switch to the fixed line plan instead?

This is currently applicable to new sign ups only.

There are now subbers who are currently or gonna be out of contract soon, and also not recently signed up since they signed up > one year ago.
