Hi!
Does anyone know the Manufacturer&Model of the D-Link wifi7 DPN-BE7212GR ROUTER's chipset?
It's only mentioned 1.2GHz Quad-Core CPU.

I have WiFi7 intermittent disconnections using Honor Android phone while no issues at all with WiFi6.
Honor has been reported having compatibility issues with some wifi7 Broadcom chipsets.

Same same but different.

Worth reading for potential users of SIMBA.

Call me biased but I do not recommend SIMBA to average users (relatively lack of support) and power users (CGNAT without Static IPv4 add-on).

Although i don't fight in the home broadband network but such claim is misleading leh :s13:

same physical fiber yes but same network, no?
each provider have their own exit to internet

some good, some better than others :s13:

In the video, they say same fiber network

Blah blah

Same speed and same network wor.

It's like Thai . Same same but not the same

I was recently testing some of the local telcos to see which would work better as a 5G backup for my dual WAN setup. One of the things I checked was the international routing.

For Simba, all the US traffic get routed via Europe. And they have very limited local peering. I observed some of the local traffic tromboning to Japan and back.

Yes, but point is people in SG currently have options (at least for now). Other countries often don't.

In terms of cost Simba probably have more overheads due to the cost of CGNAT and the cost of acquiring enough legacy IP to even use CGNAT. Compared to say Singtel who have large historical legacy IP allocations, don't need expensive CGNAT equipment and aren't planning to grow their customer base significantly. Offering a lower price means either they cut overheads in other areas, or they're willing to accept thinner margins, which is a common strategy for a new service looking to grow.

Merging with M1 is an interesting case... They were originally set up as a competitor to the existing providers, but it seems they've concluded that it won't be profitable long term. Otherwise they could simply have invested in M1 at the start.

The ad is designed to mislead people isn't it...

It's like one day chervy say we use Ferrari designer, same material, same CC

End up , designer is for chassis design not engine design. horsepower much lesser
And of course cherry being chervy. People pre-order liao.

Upon release, people then know engine not same Ferrari performance

Same same but not the same

The Wifi settings are limited with that Simba D-Link router:

2.4G and 5G Channel selection: AUTO
(I checked and no neighbors WiFi uses the same channel i.e. no interference)

transmitting power: 100%
Bandwidth setting: 40 MHz for 2.4G
260 MHz for 5G
Mode selection: 802.11be
Beacon send interval: 100 ms
DTIM Interval: 1

Hi guys I am newbie and Abit unsure of the tech terms here. I just signed up the Simba 2 year plan 10gbps with free installation and router . The guy will come on 22nd Dec to check the house dono what ..and then the next day the Simba guy will come to set up. Currently my old Singtel 2gbps comes with the mesh for the room.

Can I ask you all what mesh or device you all recommend me to buy to enhance connectivity for this Simba broadband at home ?

Can try out deco mesh. Easy setup following box instructions.

The issue seems to be resolved.

If some users still have the issue, usually rebooting the ONT+Router will help.

Just wondering any of the SIMBA users here are using the new ONU (an ONR) setup. You can see the 10G LAN port and four 1G LAN ports are all working.

If using this new ONU setup, most likely they will configure the bundled D-Link DPN-BE7212GR in AP mode to avoid Double NAT.

Omg the installer shortchanged my wife! Lol, i wasn’t at home during the installation day to watch the process.

I have 4 DP (3 in bedrooms and 1 in living), the installer installed the D-Link router in the living room using one of the 4 LAN ports on the Simba ONU instead of the 10G port.

I’m lazy to move my butt to reconnect the D-Link to the 10G port, anyway only 2 iPhones are connected to the D-Link. Lol…

Honor has been reported having compatibility issues with some wifi7 Broadcom chipsets.

Its the AN7581 by Airoha, also known as EN7581 by EcoNet before acquisition.
Wi-Fi SoC should be the MT7992 by Mediatek.
The W1700k has the same SoC, so there is a chance of support by OpenWRT if there is enough interest by the developers.
Found through analyzing the firmware update D-Link provides.

It should be easy to swap the connection, just change the connection of the Ethernet cable from the ONU (from 1G port to 10G port) to the DB Box patch panel port for the living room (no change on this side).

Just wondering what is the model of the SIMBA ONU? Is it Huawei OptiXstar HN8250Ts-20 used by M1? M1 configures it in ONT mode so only the 10G port is working.
