Not sure how or what to buy to upgrade your system to use the 2.5gb?

Just stick to your current setup and use it as a 1gb plan. Paying lesser in the long run.

Next is just get a cheap Wifi-6 Router that has 1x 2.5gb WAN port.
So all your 4x 1gb LAN port + Wifi-6 speed can still Maxed out that 2.5gb as a total.....

Lastly... if you want to invest more to get 2.5gb all around...
Your final end will need to upgrade to 2.5gb Ethernet Port.... (Most laptop don't have) and for PC, if you don't know what/how to physically upgrade.... Then you most prob won't need that Full 2.5gb on that system.

Most have no reason to have each physical connection to get the full 2.5gb.... as when 3x 1gb maxed out...... Would have saturated that 2.5gb.....

Simba don't support DV Digital Voice (Home Line).....

There are 2 types of payment quarterly(60+53+50+60(deposit)) and annually(240+53+50).

As I signed up very early on I paid a total of $273 upfront including 3 months subscription and 3 months deposit but I get back $80 credit to my Simba mobile.

They still need to fine tune the network. Hopefully they get better.
Initial setup fees aside, still a better deal, saving a lot on subscription fee down the road.
Really tempting, but had to wait for the contract to be expired first.
PS: anyway, info from Simba, my area not ready yet.

I have been on simba since Dec 15 and it's been good so far. I didn't experience any downtime when I'm at home using it and other family members didn't say anything about it either. There is a user here who posted saying there was a downtime early in morning 1am or something. You have to look for it several pages back.

I was on m1 no contract since June and when Simba was available in the area,I signed up. The first week I was the only one using it to see how it goes before I let the other members use it. Once that was done and all is ok only then did I cancel the m1 which was on 31st dec.

Here is the start on the simba journey.

How many days needed for m1 to terminate their service~?

total upfront cost to Simba is $53 (connection fee) + $50 (ONT installation) + $60 (quarterly subscription) right~? 💸

I called in at 5pm few hours later terminated.

Add in another $60 as security deposit if paying quarterly. If paying annually then it's 240+53+50

China is shameless about it tho. Don't even bother pretending to feel guilty. Literally openly doing it
imo backdoors are backdoors, so in the end, makes no difference whether its Eastern or Western backdoor.
Rather which is more intuitive, functional and practical with excellent value being important deciding factors for consumers.

connection speed aside, it would take 11mths to see the actual saving if jump ship from my m1 $30 plan to simba~ other ISPs waive the ONT activation fee while Simba break it into two fees, connection and ONT installation fees~🤦‍♀️

i'm still considering~ hope Simba can come out road show with better promo~ :s22:

Need to return the ONT?
The cs never mentioned anything about returning the ont.

Assuming you are on no contract m1 $30.18x12=$362.16

SImba pay upfront 12 months $240+53+50=$343plus gst

If m1 in the future doesn't bring down the price on their lowest plan for both their 1 and 2 year contract then savings maybe after 1 year

I don't understand what is M1's strategy.

Is on their website, take 500mbps plan for example, it clearly show:
12month plan - $40.65/mth
24month plan - $30.65/mth

And carry on without a contract, with no additional charges?

Can try ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 (WiFi 6) or ET12 (WiFi 6e)

Each has 1x WAN(2.5G) and 1x WAN/LAN(2.5G) ports

It all depends on your budget.

Main router -- at least two x 2.5G ports
Mesh node -- single 2.5G WAN port is okay to use 2.5G Ethernet Backhaul. If not, can use cheaper mesh node without 2.5G port.

1) Asus AImesh
Asus ZenWiFI Pro XT12 x 2, or XT12 + XT8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
Asus ZenWiFI Pro ET12 x 2, or ET12 + ET8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
GT-AX6000 x 2, or GT-AX6000 + TUF-AX4200 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
TUF-AX6000 x2 or TUF-AX6000 + TUF-AX4200 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
TUF-AX6000 + ZenWiFI XT8 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
China version: TX-6000 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option

2) Xiaomi Mesh (China version)
Xiaomi BE7000 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option
Xiaomi 6500 Pro x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option, but not as good as BE7000

3) TP-Link Mesh
TP-Link Deco BE65 WiFi 7 mesh (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible)
China version: TP-Link TL-7DR6560 BE6500 x 2 (2.5G Ethernet backhaul possible) -- Low cost option

Thank you for the recommendations! Will give a check on the specs and budget.:)

False equivalence since your bias is apparent.
As consumers, just pick your poison based on value proposition, practicality and functionality.
All these politics shouldn't even be the key concern affecting purchases since none are saints.

the top few cybersecurity experts in the world works with my company as consultants and to share the latest threats.

The scenario i depicted is very relevant and mostly accurate. You are the 1 that let politics muddle your judgement thinking what china is doing is same as every1 and that western world just wanna pick on china.

There's a v good reason y china equipment only make up a v small portion of our infrastructure even tho they are better and cheaper

lol, sure, if it floats your boat. People in the industry will know its all bs. I'm being impartial, consumers shouldn't be bothered about these politics. Only with competition will it allow advancements, not exclusions etc.
Western world will always condemn non-western sphere of influence/technological advancements etc. i.e. Japan when it doesn't follow/suit their agenda.
Currently its China, and we shall observe which will be next in Asia to be targetted i.e. India. This is what is known as monopolistic behaviours which is very apparent and typical of them.

I'm actually planning to buy a 2.5gbps wan router from GL inet about this week. It's about $180 sgd after tax. Seems pretty feature rich as well with OpenWRT and wireguard as compared to it's competitors.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_oFkJ7vm
Just need to be informed if the unit was originally supposed for China market.

All sell-to-china units won't come with wireguard or any VPN function in its default firmware and OS as regulated by the Chinese government. You will need to manually install it yourself.
