This one only has 1 x 2.5Gbps port leh.

The Xiaomi Mi Router BE7000 got 4 x 2.5Gbps port.

GLi.Net Flint 2 (GL-MT6000) has two 2.5G ports, one for WAN and one for LAN, so it is a good match for SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan.
https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt6000/

The FW feature of the GL-MT6000 will be much better than Xiaomi BE7000, you can check out the above link.

On the other hand, since you are satisfied with Xiaomi AX3600, then Xiaomi BE7000 will be a better choice for you.

Just need to be informed if the unit was originally supposed for China market.

All sell-to-china units won't come with wireguard or any VPN function in its default firmware and OS as regulated by the Chinese government. You will need to manually install it yourself.

Interesting to know, kind of expected.

Most of them have only single 2.5G port. If we do not consider higher end ones with 10G ports, then the only option seems to be only Archer BE550 WiFi 7 router with 5 x 2.5G ports.

For local versions with local warranty, I will recommend Asus instead, with dual 2.5G ports.
Asus GT-AX6000
Asus TUF-AX6000

If no need local warranty, then the China version of TUF-AX6000 is called TX-AX6000 and it is of very good value. But then Xiaomi BE7000 is of even better value with quad 2.5G ports and faster CPU.

For those who want local version (with official local warranty) of WiFi 7 router with 6GHz support, then the lowest cost one available now is probably TP-Link Archer BE550, at about S$499.

• 6 GHz: 5760 Mbps (802.11be)

• 4K-QAM
• Multi-RUs

I'm actually planning to buy a 2.5gbps wan router from GL inet about this week. It's about $180 sgd after tax. Seems pretty feature rich as well with OpenWRT and wireguard as compared to it's competitors.

I don't understand what is M1's strategy.

Is on their website, take 500mbps plan for example, it clearly show:
12month plan - $40.65/mth
24month plan - $30.65/mth

And carry on without a contract, with no additional charges?
difference is, they want people to take 24mth plan, so minimally binded for 24mths.

Yes of coz. lock u down longer the better.
What puzzle me is that, once ur contract is up, u can carry on using the same service and paying the monthly subscription fee. Don't they want to lock u down again? so what is the catch here?

Any recontract is probably a bonus, catch is probably if they happen to increase the price before you recontract, you are caught off guard, or the other way round.

Well, if that is the case, think it wasn't a bad idea to carry on without contract, can jump ship anytime.
For many yrs, their pricing remains the same, the gst 7% to 9% is a diff story.

The backdoor talk has no end and is just veering way off topic so why not just end it?

How certain are you that openwrt and merlin doesn't have MSS/NSA/CIA/SID/*** backdoor? You audited all the code and complied the OS from source yourself? What about proprietary blobs that you can't inspect properly?

And we're back to blind trusting some random guy again.

I am looking for some advise on simba 2.5gbps broadband.

1. New homeowner and looking to sign up with a ISP in the next 2 months
2. I am bought ASUS router XT8.
3. My home location is within simba serivce location
4. My normal use is light torrenting, normal YouTube, netflix etc
5. Things i look out for in an ISP is stability and speed. Nothing fancy. Budget is around $40. So simba low price of $20 is a bonus.

Do you guys recommend me getting Simba broadband? If not which ISP i should go for?

Just checked with them. For exports to other countries it will come with VPN :)

There are quite some routers with dual or more 2.5G ports.

For example, you can look at Asus TUF-AX6000 or GT-AX6000.

Xiaomi Mi Router 7000 vs Xiaomi Mi Router BE7000.

What's the difference? Price difference is about SGD$20.

Does this has good "Parental Control"?

I wonder how is the Wifi signal coverage?

The parental control feature of the GLi.Net routers will for sure be better than Xiaomi's.
https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/parental_control/
https://github.com/gl-inet/parental-control

You can probably enhance Xiaomi BE7000 parental control features using Docker containers like Adguard Home, but that may need helps from the Firewall rules side as well.

For WiFi coverage, I am pretty sure that Xiaomi BE7000 will be better.

If you want the benefits of both, get a GLi.Net router as the main router (or a mini PC as the main router to run OpenWRT/pfSense) and use the Xiaomi BE7000 as an AP.

That's exactly what I am trying to get at. Unless you're the one that develop these firmwares etc., you can never be sure of what is going on.
Can't even comprehend the logic and want to make noise about such topics, these people need to educate themselves.
