The parental control feature of the GLi.Net routers will for sure be better than Xiaomi's.
https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/parental_control/
https://github.com/gl-inet/parental-control

You can probably enhance Xiaomi BE7000 parental control features using Docker containers like Adguard Home, but that may need helps from the Firewall rules side as well.

For WiFi coverage, I am pretty sure that Xiaomi BE7000 will be better.

If you want the benefits of both, get a GLi.Net router as the main router (or a mini PC as the main router to run OpenWRT/pfSense) and use the Xiaomi BE7000 as an AP.
Looks good.

Hopefully that the Parental Control really works. Because Asus' Parental Control looks similar to this but it doesn't work. When I set a time to cut off the internet, it doesn't. I Googled and found many people complaining the same thing. Not sure has Asus resolved that already.

Asus seems to have slacked quite alot. YouTubers complaining about their motherboard and simple Parental Control on their router is broken.

Right now, for the Xiaomi AX3600, it does work for most part. But don't know why if they are playing Roblox, then the internet will not be cut off as long as they are in the game. So the work around is to schedule a reboot of my router.

I already has a 2.5Gbps 8 port switch, so I can use the GLi.Net routers. But the Xiaomi Mi Router 7000/BE7000 has 4 x 2.5Gbps port, 1 for WAN, 1 for NAS and 1 for my PC with 1 port to spare. Then I can sell the 8 port 2.5Gbps router liao.

I am looking for some advise on simba 2.5gbps broadband.

1. New homeowner and looking to sign up with a ISP in the next 2 months
2. I am bought ASUS router XT8.
3. My home location is within simba serivce location
4. My normal use is light torrenting, normal YouTube, netflix etc
5. Things i look out for in an ISP is stability and speed. Nothing fancy. Budget is around $40. So simba low price of $20 is a bonus.

Do you guys recommend me getting Simba broadband? If not which ISP i should go for?
Probs will have no stability and speed issues until userbase builds up. Most ISPs are using NLT's fibre anyway.

If you have no hardware to use the 2.5G LAN .... Then a single port 2.5G WAN + 4x 1G LAN is sufficient.
Can always get it better router down the road, when more are available.

Or just keep using whatever current hardware you have, and paying less....

This is likely due to "kill states" setting not present or build in. If connection has been established before the rules are enforced. It will continue to be not enforced even when the rules are running. Only when you allow kill states (or reboot), any "before" firewall rules will be enforced by the current rules in effect.

These "kill states" are common for advanced firewall/router appliances, but mostly lacking in consumer class solution. Enterprise APs even allow for scheduling on WiFi radio of different SSID/vlans to turn on and off for a set period of time.

As simba uses cgnat, using the gl i.net brume 2 aka gl-mt2500 is viable? some port mapping is needed?

Same, left 2 days to sign up. So sudden.
I think that is their tactic, now quite a lot of ISP is havng high speed internet promotion. If they don't do it fast, they will lost their potential customer. I am one of them. at first wait for them but in the end i go sign up other ISP.
