Does this mean this is not CGNAT?

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting SIMBA Customer Support.

Simba Broadband is configured with Dynamic IPv4 addressing, it means that when you connect to the internet, your device is assigned a temporary IPv4 address from a pool managed by Simba. The address assigned to your device may change each time you connect to the internet. This dynamic assignment is typically facilitated through the use of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), a protocol that automatically configures network settings.

Key points about Simba Broadband using Dynamic IPv4:

  1. Temporary Address Assignment:
    • Simba Broadband assigns your device a temporary IPv4 address from a pool of available addresses each time you connect to the internet.
  2. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP):
    • DHCP is likely used to automatically configure your device's network settings, including the IPv4 address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
  3. Efficient IP Address Management:
    • Dynamic IPv4 addressing allows Simba Broadband to efficiently manage a pool of IPv4 addresses among their subscribers.
  4. Flexibility:
    • Dynamic addressing is convenient for most users and provides flexibility in managing IP addresses within the network.
If you have specific questions about your Simba Broadband service or need assistance with any network-related matters, you can reach out to Simba's customer support for more detailed information and support.

Should you need further assistance please let us know.

Regards,
Cristina

You need to ask whether the dynamic IPv4 address is Public IPv4 address or not.

The reply sound like copy and paste from a computer textbook.
Anyway for normal user who just use it to surf net or watch streaming movie or normal day to day work, CGNAT or not is not relevant.

Heard that if one of the user in the same "group" of IP that we are on kena banned by a game server, then EVERYBODY on the same "group" will kena ban also.

IP that we are on kena banned by a game server,
I think I was the one that mentioned this initially. :s13:

At least for COD don't IP ban you, they just ban accounts. Forums might IP ban but you're also not too likely to be sharing the same IP with someone getting banned on some niche forum you happen to surf. The stars all must really align.

Mobile broadband are all on CGNAT and I've yet to run into this problem for normal web surfing, so the probability of encountering issues should be quite low tbh.

Not saying impossible to encounter issues, but probability is low.

I am also in dilemma, contract ending in Jul, not sure if want to sign up for this. Last day to decide.

No need to rush at all, especially since you still have existing contract.

If SIMBA is doing well, they should be able to deploy the service to the whole island later this year (and not limited to existing SIMBA mobile customers).

Most likely I will support SIMBA when my current contract with Whizcomms expire. Whizcomms also not bad lah, bring down internet fee by a lot but SIMBA wake up the rest of the telcos by offering lowest mobile line fee. They are doing it again now with broadband and they deserve our support especially if we are just a simple user lol.

I received the email invite. Discussions on technical terms like ivp6 gncat and port forwarding are beyond me. I game daily online and requires stable connection. Currently on singnet and out of contract. Is this simba worth considering?

Noob question

Now I under m1 500 mbps plan.

So the OpenNet point on the wall can support 2 broadband service.

Say if I also sign up Simba - using the other OpenNet point.

After that, I terminate the m1 broadband when contract ends. Can I use this same port to sign up other broadband (say WhizComms) next time?

Depends on game. If need P2P connection the GCNAT might block you. If connect to server you will be fine. But if the game does IP bans then you can get messed up too for other people stirring ****.

Since you dunno anything you are probably fine, your ports are probably not even open and you are not on ipv6 anyway.

can, provided M1 release that particular port for you to use WC...

in terms of procedure or cost, i don't know:flash:

but just to share, got some power users have 2 termination point:s42: (rare and it's based on case-by-case basis)
