I'm on Whizcomms.

Now it's like depending on your budget, the value-for-money broadband providers are Whizcomms or MyRepublic 10Gbps.

What Simba needs is more time to proof itself.

If you do not mind the limitations of using an ONR (or you managed to bridge the WC ONR), indeed WC 2.5G plan is of very good value at S$20.18 per month.

Indeed SIMBA needs more time to prove itself. It may need to provide add-on service like static IPv4 to work around CGNAT for some users as well.

If you do not like to use the ONR, I still feel M1 500Mbps plan is of great value (using ONT, not CGNAT, one dynamic public IPv4 address, /64 IPv6, free digital voice) at around S$30 per month.

Take note Starhub no longer provides 500Mbps service to new users.

As for Starhub and MyRepublic 10G service, I think they are of good value if you do not mind paying for 10G service now. I think the price will go down further so most of the users can wait for another one to two years or even longer.

Ran some traceroutes from RIPE Atlas probes connected to the 5 consumer ISPs to Simba's gateway (210.10.78.1) for a rough idea on how Simba is peering with other local ISPs.

Singtel: via Hurricane Electric in either HK or LA, depending on what IP range you're on. Ping RTT will be ~40ms for traffic transiting through HK, and ~200ms for LA.
Starhub and MyRepublic: via Hurricane Electric in SG
M1 and Viewqwest: via SGIX

Simba, M1 and Viewqwest are all peering openly in SGIX so it make sense traffic flows through SGIX rather than through their upstream transit provider (as in Singtel, Starhub and MyRepublic).
Also, Simba seem to have upgraded one of their peering ports in SGIX from 3* 10G to a single 100G link in the last few months.

Singtel: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/69282504#probes
Starhub: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/69282458#probes
M1: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/69282559#probes
MyRepublic: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/69282596#probes
Viewqwest: https://atlas.ripe.net/measurements/69282599#probes

You're on CGNAT (if on Simba, and we're in the Simba thread) anyway, not a huge concern imo.

All the public will see is a rough marker for your declared location, and your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses if you make your status page publicly available.

You can also hide your status page so no one can easily see the above info, but I think still possible to link your probe Id and public IP through API.

I'd think the downtime are teething issues like TPG when they just started.

Nowadays 4G/5G mobile connections are quite reliable, so switch to phone tether or buy a cheap portable mobile data router as backup incase of broadband discruptions.

The monthly fees saved per year is no mean feat. At least there's someone here to disrupt the broadband fees, so we all can enjoy competitive fees next time.
If money doesn't matter then I won't choose Simba. Just signup those 10Gbps from SH,ST,MR...

occasional teething issues are fine. but no usable internet for more than 72 hours now already. and they took more than 12 hours to reply my multiple emails once a day. no hot line to call, gave them my number and begged them to contact me for quicker liaising also refused. refused to send someone down to check and verify, fix the issue even when I offered to pay.

i tried,
1. turning off and on the modem and router
2. plugging out and in lan cable
3. tried plugging lan cable directly from modem to desktop

nothing worked. it took multiple refreshing of browser to barely load speedtest the day before and it showed like 0.2mbps of speed. i have had positive experience with their mobile since TPG days till now. but didn't expect their broadband to screw up such big time with no customer support.

Better for you to complain on the FB page. Many people been doing that for other issues.

If it is not your router problem and other Simba users are not complaining, then maybe is the ONT modem faulty.

Hi currently I am on M1 500mbps for many yrs.
Should I try the simba BB. Tks. 😁
No. They have close to zero customer support, zero sense of urgency and super unstable. Me and my family are left stranded with unusable internet for 4 days now already.

Same bro. They just keep sending me SOP template replies. The refused to send technician down saying if no fault there will be a fee even after I say I’m ok with paying. I just sent them my final email telling them I do not need any fixing now. Just terminate my contract with full refund so that I can move on to other ISP. Also told them I will be lodging complaints against them to IMDA and CASE and will make a police report for fraud due to me paying 6 months worth of subscription in advance for something I did not receive and that the company has no intention of explaining or resolve the dispute

Not worth the $... Now give me free I also wun scribe... Fxxk up company.

Sad to hear that. Hopefully SIMBA can clean up and improve on the stability.

Update my comparison post of SIMBA 2.5Gbps vs Whizcomms 2.5Gbps plan
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...nd-whizcomm-boradband.6984714/#post-150697339

++++++ Conclusion +++++++++++
Personal Recommendations: just my personal opinion
Avoid both plans as of now especially for power users.

For an average user who want to have a low Fibre internet plan and do not mind the limitations of the ONR, WC 2.5Gbps may be the way to go.
Stability is the most important factor for average users.

The WC ONR limitation may not mean much to an average user. WC 2.5Gbps may be more stable choice between the two as it is riding on Singtel network and it is available now to all users whereas SIMBA is still rolling out the service.
