Am thinking v hard whether to go for their 10GBPS plan 29.90. Huat ah :flash:

If you have an existing Internet plan already which still have a few months left, and SIMBA 10Gbps plan is available in your area, just go ahead.

If SIMBA 10Gbps is not good, keep your existing plan for longer time.
If SIMBA is good, you can cancel your existing plan.

Same dilemma, also on M1 500mbs, no contract. Dunno want to get the simba 10Gbps.

Just upgraded to Asus RT-AX86 Pro last year

M1 500Mbps (or Starhub 500Mbps) will keep the same S$30.45 per month pricing even out of contract. So you can wait, no need in delemma. Just wait for more reports from SIMBA 2.5Gbps/10Gbps users to see if it is stable or not.

My recommended ISP plans for new sign-up here -- just my personal opionion though.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singapore-isp-comparisons.6665380/

1) For existing users of any ISPs: no switching of ISP unless if you got issues or you got very good offers from the other ISPs.

2) Recommendation for new sign-up: SIMBA not in the list due to unproven stability and limited availability
a) M1 500Mbps/1Gbps plan
b) M1/Starhub 2Gbps plan if you want to get a higher end router with dual WAN load balancing.
c) WC 2.5Gbps plan if you do not mind using ONR and only want to have a low cost and stable plan.
d) VQ 3Gbps plan is worth considering especially for power users
e) SH 5Gbps plan is worth considering if you opt to go with the ONT
f) SH 10Gbps plan is the way to go if you need EPL.

I have read comments on reddit that Simba routing is not optimised for games although their bandwidth is high.
I think that is why it is cheap ?

wi-fi 7 routers still expensive

and massive

And hot.

10G capable WiFi 7 routers are big, expsnive and hot.

More info about WiFi 7 router here.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-7-routers-without-6ghz-band-support.6905228/

4. Note: as of now in July 2024, other than the 10G capable WiFi 7 routers bundled with the above three Telco's 10Gbps plan ( if you subscribe to their 10Gbps plan). I do not recommend buying any local version of WiFi 7 routers due to high cost and lack of compatible WiFi 7 clients with the exception of TP-Link Archer BE805 (around S$400+ BNIB from Carousell, dumped by MR users). It is not a custom model.

Just installed SIMBA 2.5Gbps and the speed is terrible. Whole family compliant why switching to SIMBA.

Existing is M1 1Gbps, very little complaint and two children play games and works fine, but since switched to SIMBA, they telling me can we switch back?

Planning to keep the M1 1Gbps and recontract to 2Gbps, any comment from the rest?

Warning to those considering SIMBA: do not look at the face value of 2.5Gbps and monthly fee, in the end you will be like me, pay 200+ for nothing and end up need to terminate 1 SIMBA port if I go for M1 2Gbps (1G + 1G) and home only have 2 fibre ports.

when WC first introduced 2.5G, there were reports that you could bridge the ONR but will only get 1Gbps (albeit at the same lower price). It's a cheaper option for those who want/need ONT, and are ok with 1Gbps

Have not checked if they have changed that policy

No official support of bridging by WC for the 2.5Gbps plan. This is different from the previous WC 1Gbps plan which you can opt to go for the ONT mode officially done by WC (No charge if requested before the installation date).

But quite a few users have successfully bridged the WC ONRs -- Huawei HG8244H, HG8240T5 and ZTE ZXHN F620 ONR. For Nokia G240 ONR there is also a sucessful story (but you need to get the superadmin password using pm as it is not published publicly to this forum).

After the bridging, you will get one port bridged (to use with your own router in router mode) and the other three ports unbridged. Each port (bridged or unbridged) will still be at 1Gbps, combined download bandwidth of all ports is 2.5Gbps, combined upload bandwidth is 1.25Gbps.

Considering Simba Mobile offers roaming to 60+ countries by default, i am not surprised that their overseas routing performs well.

So if you consume mostly overseas content then Simba Fiber would be a good match.

Unfortunately the reports here show it is otherwise and SIMBA routing is not so good to quite some places, including local SpeedTest servers from other ISPs.

You can read Post #1894 in this page -- the user regreted very much switching from M1 1Gbps plan to SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan.

I am using M1 500mbps connection with a powerline connected to my power plug and hence the low bandwidth.

Show us your 2.5gbps Simba speed and latency. 😂

M1 latency is usually quite good with the exception to China.

Results from Singtel -- Singtel usually does not have good routing to many places compared to M1, but better than M1 when it comes to China.
Using wireless connection here, Singtel 1Gbps, Asus RT-AX86U router, Acer Windows 11 laptop late 2021 model with Intel AX201 WiFi 6 adapter.
